Calzaghe's window for greatness came and left.

 

whatever happens in joes remaining fights he will still be one of the top five fighters of his generation. hands down.

 

I think Hopkins, Jones, Trinidad, DLH, Mayweather, R. Lopez, Mosley, Morales, Barrera and couple others might disagree.

Beating Hopkins and then maybe beating Jones doesn't make Joe C greater then them anymore then did Berbick beating Ali make him a greater HW.

In my opinion, all those I listed have beat better fighters and more of them.

Out of curiosity, what exactly would be the difference between them fighting @ 175, which you say Hopkins would win, and 168, which Joe would win? :think

 

I think Joe...I KNOW he'll not perform at 175 as he did at 168...I recall George Foster moving up

Joe did not look himself at 175, whereas, I think Hopkins can perform as well at 175, as 168....If Joe never had a hand problem, that would favor him...but I still don;t like him at 175.
At 168 with lacy, Joe looked as though he could have gone 15 rounds easily

 

you've seen nothing and are a joe nutt hugger, hell many think joe lost to a 43 year old hopkins, get real man no way joe even survives against a prime hopkins. Just face it hopkins is in whole different league than joe. Joe's biggest prime win in jeff lacy bearly pete manfredo jr, went life and death with him. Kessler is a never has been or ever will be so you have no grounds to fall back on, calzaghe is a class below hopkins and there's nothing you can say to change the way it will be remembered. Calzaghe the undefeated fighter that never beat anyone close to their primes to define his career.

What boxrec doesnt show is that a) Collins was a very very good fighter. b) Eubank arguably won one of the fights c) Eubank had Collins all the way up ***** street in the other and went and stood on the other side of the ring as was his practice post watson d) He ran Thompson close in the first fight e) He had thompson on ***** street in the first one... see above... but in this case its well know thompson has powers of recouperation that baffle the mind, see the first two rounds of his fight with haye f) he was clearly winning the second fight vs a guy that has stopped David Haye no less, and was only stopped due to a swelling on the eye.

The trouble with weight rumours have followed Eubank around all his career but frankly I've never seen it affect his performance. The guy was huge for a middle/supermiddle and had a tendancy to cut weigth late. It worked for him. He was in training for a LHW fight which is how he could take the calzaghe fight with so little notice, it probably meant he lost his weight no differently than he would given more notice. He has never, then or since said he was anything other than 100% for the calzaghe fight and was clearly capable of going the full 12 at pace.

Eubank was far from shot.
