How do you think Calzaghe would have done against Canelo? IMHO, I think Calzghe had the fast hand speed of Khan, but the qualities Khan needed to win against Canelo: a granite chin, good ring IQ and a stellar defense. I think he would have outboxed Canelo and won on points.

It would have been an easy victory for Calzaghe.

Too much of a size difference, think it would have been a walkover for Calzaghe

It would have looked like Calzaghe-Veit 1

Not really that much of a size difference actually. Canelo boils down about as hard as you possibly can.

It wouldn't even be close. It would be Calzaghe v Lacy 2

well at present they've each beaten one elite in their weight category, albeit canelos was aged and calzahes only agreed to fight his when his got injured (and in Cardiff). Resume quality wise they are similar. But this is h2h.

for that reason, joe being a SMW, should manage to outhustle him in an ugly narrow split points win, as long as its in Cardiff.

joe was known to have struggled badly with limited, green but tough MW bika who moved up to fight him for his wbo title - but he still managed to pull off the win (albeit needing Cardiff ref protection/judge leniency)

Weight classes exist for a reason. Moving from Caneloweight to SMW is too much of a jump for Mr Alvarez. On top of that, Calzaghe's skill-set is on another level. Either a 12 round whooping or a TKO.

the original thread is not realistic as the size difference is unfair on canelo

your own post is just as skewed .

calzaghe fought down to bikas level as bika was as you stated very strong and very unorthodox.

calzaghe had to outtough and outspeed him / but won wide with no hint of judge leneincy you state.

4 years later bika gave ward just as tough a fight as he did calzaghe with a similar result / hard fights but clear win for both ward and calzaghe.

so you think I should take out the skew by ignoring size difference between mw and smw?

fool, I wont, its real and exists.

joe got cut up and had to dig deep for a fair points win. bika was a mw moving up.

ward cruised for a WIDER points win. bika a seasoned smw.

more different than similar. but some similarity.

Is this a genuine question? P4P Calzaghe gives Canelo a Mayweather-esque schooling. Just no comparison in skill-set and ability.
