How would this end up? Conventional wisdom would say Calzaghe pnts or Jackson KO Joes been on the floor vs non punchers (jones(not a puncher at 40) Salem Hopkins Mitchel?) How would he react to a JAckson punch? also Would Joe be able to resist entering jackson danger zone? I say Calzaghe UD..based on consistancy but wouldnt be suprised to see a Ko for Jackson
Hahaha! Brilliant. Calzaghe stops Jackon mid to late rounds. Only because of the significant size advantage. Jackson could definitely put Calzaghe on his backside though. Could he keep him there though? I doubt it.
would be some fight.....just cant get the memory of an elusive Herol Graham rushing in on Jackson like a Calzaghe would and getting his teeth knocked into his gumsheild
It depends what you call Calzaghe's prime. Physically he was prime much younger, but mentally he probably peaked in the Lacy & Kessler fights. Before his hand troubles he certainly punched hard enough to stop Jackson.
Calzaghe did go down late in his career against soft punches but got straight up, where as he went threw a war with Eubank and got up. The guy had a granite chin anyway you look at it, never once knocked out by anyone despite being knocked down and taking some massive shots in his career.
Calzaghe would respect Jackson's power and adapt accordingly. In his prime, Jackson only lost to McCallum and McClellan. Calzaghe's best chance would be to change his name to McCalzaghe

A agree on everything apart from Chin, I dont think Jackson would have been KOD by anyone Joe faced, Jones at 40 isnt a puncher.jones prime would probaly Ko Jackson. Calzaghe though does have all the advantages, but they can ll be wiped out with one swing... would have loved to see this fight.... there arent any punchers like that anymore
Jackson is by far the most unique puncher iv ever seen. Pure and destructive discombobulating power. Jackson will always be a live body in ANY fight because he punches so freaking hard. That being said he was quite easy to outbox by good box punchers. Joe is the type of person that can be dragged into a war of attrition. Against a bonafide puncher like Jackson thats not a good trait. Im going with Jackson via stoppage.
Bit of an unfair one..really a boiled down lightheavy versus a decent sized jnr middleweight. Jackson certainly has the punch that could knock out blokes much larger than him but someone as good as Joe its unlikely. Joe was awkward as hell, whilst not a defensive wizard difficult to land consistently on and he also never displayed anything but a solid chin. Joe stops Julian mid-late rounds.
