Could Calzaghe have beaten the Ruiz Jones fought?

Smart money would be on the heavyweight, I wouldnt be surprised though if he pulled it off though.

i just dont think he has enough power to be respected by the big fellas...

Under the same circumstances Jones fought ruiz Calzaghe could most certainly win the fight. Remember Jay Nady allowed no infighting at all. With Jay Nady as referee I could see not only Calzaghe but Hopkins and Dawson being able to defeat Ruiz. Because of Nady the fight was basically a glorified sparring session.

I'd say it would be 50/50 if Calzaghe fought the right fight he could make Ruiz look stupid. But on the other hand the extra weight may slow him down and Ruiz outmuscles him.

I doubt it, as Joe tends to leave himself open, and remember Ruiz had a little bit of pop.

Calzaghe doesnt fight anything like RJJ. It would be tough for him, even with all his combos, because Ruiz although people hate him, has a rouge, tough, and sloppy in fighting game where he can hit you with that sneaky overhand right. You guyss got to remember RJJ got Ruiz respect when he rocked him in the 4th round, it was only for a few seconds, but you saw Ruiz legs almost give out and him wobble. Calzaghe is not doing that.

I don't think he can beat him, he doesn't fight anything like RJJ and he is wayy to open to be hit and Ruiz has power don't confuse this.

That's how this type of thing goes -- like Jones fighting Tarver. In his prime I believe he still would've struggled but pulled off the victory, but Calzaghe would've beat Tarver with ease.
