pavlik is a slow, straight lines, straight forward pressure fighter. calzaghe eats that sort of style for breakfast. he may not smash pavlik up but he will give him a lesson using his footspeed and exploiting angles that pavlik leaves open.

No, he'd figure it out that i have no doubt. but that wont matter - Pavlik's power will prove to be too much to handle.

pavlik's defence is poor.anyone fighting calzaghe with a dodgy defence is in big,big trouble.i think it's an easy nights work for calzaghe.

the problem with that scenario is that joe will probably be touching his 40's by the time we see pavlik reach his peak.

don't see this fight coming off anyway, providing abraham gets past miranda i think we'll see pavlik booked up for some time and joe isn't going to hang around in the game for much longer.

Very doubtful based on his fight with Hopkins. Hopkins barely touched him and he went down. Pavlick hits much harder, and is a much better finisher than Hopkins also. Calzaghe may have been able to beat Pavlik about 5 years ago not now.

I have. I saw a Roy Jones clearly beat a Prime Bernard Hopkins. He didn't slap him, he didn't get his ass floored by him and he didn't wait til he was 43yrs old to come to the US and fight him :good

calzaghe waited for hopkins?!?!? sorry, who ducked at the last minute in 2002? make sure to get back to me on that one. :yep

that really wasn't a prime version of either guy and neither looked too hot in there.

    Pavlik is made for Calzaghe.

And this logic of 'Hopkins floored Calzaghe, which means Pavlik will' is bull****. Hopkins drew him in and landed a perfect counter punch. Pavlik won't do this, Calzaghe will see his punches coming, avoid them and counter.

Out of all fights talked about for Calzaghe, Pavlik is the easiest.

and he also pot shotted his way to victory all night while in his prime against a green hopkins,no comparison it was an old calzaghe v an old but defensively amazing hopkins while rjj is the brightest light of our generation at the upper weights.

i think calzaghe wins a pretty uncontested UD in this fight, pavlik very rarely throws in bunches and also has quite poor footwork, against a fighter like calzaghe these flaws would be exploited all night, pavlik hands are also not the quickest.im sorry but outside calzaghe getting proper past it over night and pavlik being able to utilize his reach advantage i dont see a way for him to win.

i really like pavlik and can see him cleaning up the mw division but he simply does not have the skills to cope with a fighter like joe.joe would exploit angles in his defence, use his footwork to get away from and inside his jab,and use the open palmed slap to spank pavliks arse and face all night.

    Can't compare the two.

For one Pavlik is a come forward fighter and not a slick counter-puncher like Hopkins.

Pavlik is made for Calzaghe, if this happens and Pavlik fights his normal fight Calzaghe would beat him up bad.
