Ha ha thats true actually. These guys are literally bottom of the barrel stuff. That guy last night was actually allright tbf. I enjoyed the fight anyway. I dont think hattons going anywhere in the grand scheme of things...but it,s actually half decent to see if he can achieve anything after watching him struggle so badly against these guys.
His fight and the result was a stain on the show, and his totally misplaced arrogance afterwards didn't really help either. So they probably know they have to match him even softer next time around, or just stop giving him spotlight fights for the time being. The guy would b a lowlevel journeyman if it wasn't for his name.
We've entered Bizarro World with Soup Hatton as the 3rd highest fighter on a PPV card in a 70,000 seater stadium. It's farcical and I'm not sure how to feel about it all tbh, things like this have happened before but never this blatantly. But it's going to continue and embarrassing as it's been so far only going to become even more farcical over time, nobody is going to come out of this situation looking good from Hatton, Eddie, DAZN and the judges.
We can all make excuses about his lack of amateur career, the big events he keeps being stuck on and that he should be going away and learning his trade, he is young.. blah blah blah The fact is he isn't good, he is very very very average and that's being extremely generous. He can't punch, he has zero defence, he just mimics his father, the wide left hook to the body and tries to swarm and bully his opponents but he has nothing that you need to do that. This is going to end in tears, probably Ricky's at ringside while Campbell is being attended to by medics.
He had an above average amateur record, but he didn’t box that often to be honest. He was good when he was younger then he had time off because he had a kid. Then as a senior he was boxing like 4/5 times a year which isn’t enough as an amateur. He never won any major amateur titles.
Felt bad for Sonny Martinez who comfortably beat him. Why should Martinez have shown up if the judges were going to give him a loss no matter what he did?
I agree with the comments, it’s way way too early for him. It’s not his fault the decision was corrupt, it’s everywhere in boxing but he’s gonna get the hate. He should take a step back and then come back only if he’s ready for it, it’s not fair otherwise.
This is the age of social media and how many followers they have. We have YouTubers headlining their own events on PPV and the broadcasters are all over it. You just need a narrative or even better a famous dad, you get them to mimic their dad and you get people reminiscing about the good old days. Blame the game not the player and all that. I wished we didn't have it shoved down our throats and treated like imbeciles but this is all for the casual viewer not for us.
I was on the phone to my parents there and my 64 year old mum who doesn’t really follow boxing didn’t want me to mention the Hatton result as she wants to watch it on YouTube. Maybe he does have his fans after all..

When the best consistently don’t fight the best, this is what happens. You had people on here loving that AJ Fury wasn’t happening for example, it all adds to the farce.
I'd never box in england when it's a single judge refing and it's a british ref. you knew he was going to give it to hatton no matter what. I'd have just never taken this kind of fight.
Hatton has had four fights now, hasn’t remotely hurt an opponent. Hasn’t even scored a KD IIRC, and has clearly lost one of them. Matchroom will 100% sort out a dive in his next fight because Campbell will need a KO to still appeal to the casuals. Bet on a Campbell KO win next fight.

Unfortunately nostalgia is big nowadays with the world being so shitty. People want to chant "there's only one RIcky Hatton" or in this case "There's only one Ricky Hatton's son called Campbell" They don't want to chant "There's only one Theodore Jones" (some way way more talented unknown 5-0 fighter somewhere)
