I actually don't believe he was ever on PEDS cuz his stamina has always sucked and its not like he's punching with insane power. Tainted meat has actually been a problem with Mexican athletes for a while now.
I don't think he's that heavy handed. Most heavy handed until they step up. I'll give him speed though. But Broner is faster than him. He doesn't need to improve his left hook. His left hook is his best punch, he needs to add more to his game imo, A LOT more. Can Reynoso's do that for him? Probably, but can they get the ***** out of him? Doubt it.
its his best punch because it causes the most damage, when they shorten it, it will become much more dangerous and accurate. his bad technique hides some of his actual power, which you can see when he hits guys with little shots they didnt expect. his intelligence and heart are the only things i dont think have been fairly tested yet, but his power, as well as speed, is in the above average range. i worry about his heart. when he was buzzed by morales, he kept looking at his corner way too much. im hoping its just his dad never prepared him for that scenario so he was clueless on how to deal with it, rather than too easily discouraged when there is too much resistance. his heart will get tested again, and i will wait to make judgement till then. a clue to his intelligence will come in his next fight when i see what, if any, improvements he has made. i expect to see him slipping more under a higher guard. i expect his left hook to be thrown from better range, which will tighten it up and eliminate some gaps in defense when throwing it, which will make him harder to counter. maybe reynoso will take a different approach and it will be 2 other areas of improvement instead, these are just 2 that i see as likely to be addressed first. oh, and im not hung up on 2, it could be 5, or 1, or none, im just concerned with seeing improvement.
In MHO Vanelo is really a manufactured fighter since Floyd danced round him like a prima ballerina. We haven't see the REAL Canelo. He's had "wins" over Lara & Trout ,, gifted to him he did not really deserve. Not to mention the two GGG daylight robberies In reality that makes FIVE losses. Add to all this the WBC belt handing back fuasco that turned the REAL great Mexican fight fans against him. Then comes Moogate when he popped dirty & was caught cheating Really its a shame as Canelo can fight He fought well against GGG but just not quite good enough to win. He will never be regarded as a great fighter because of the corruption surrounding him They tried to manufacture a champion but it hasn't worked Just my 2c for what its worth
We got a glimpse into Canelo when his brother, Ramon, fought this past weekend. The Alvarez brothers come to fight and they have good chins but in the end the ref had to step in and stop Ramon from getting his ass kicked. I think the same is true for Canelo. Yeah, he can take a punch but he is not that great a fighter. He just manages to take good shots.
