He is just been hyped and protected to a road to stardom. He is suppose to fight at 147lbs but like you pointed out he usually fights at 150lbs. So 154lbs is not his weight either :? Once they eventually decide to move him to "good" competition he will more than likely campaing in 154lbs. rather than 147lbs.

He just needs to pick up a belt at 147 against mike jones in my opinion, then maybe fight berto or move up and face guys like cotto or chavez, in the end he will become a middleweight.

He wont fight too many more fights at welter. Look at the build of him.

probably get a vacant belt at 147, quickly drop it and start campaigning at 154. the belt will add to the hype

Well...Mundine moved down in weight and that worked out pretty....well...terribly...so there's that.

I think they're waiting for the right opponent before they have Canelo lose that last 3 pounds. But I also expect him to wind up staying as a JrMW since he has that WBC Silver Title bs going for him.

According to GBP, the plan is for him to make his move at 147 and stay there for the forseeable future. I recently heard Schaefer describe him as "really, a small welterweight".
