I really like this matchup!! Having a lot of issues picking a winner though, what are your thoughts? I think Carwin's time off and his tendancy to gas + his age will be his undoing vs the lot more versatile Nelson but I'm not 100% confident because we all know what one of Carwin's punches can do.
As fat as Nelson is the dude is a natural fighter. Carwin on the other hand is a big dude on gear with heavy hands and thats the extent of it. Id fancy Nelsons to TKO him. But Carwin does have the power to change turn this fight on a dime as Nelson has been KO'ed before.
Carwin is going to be tough to put away. Both guys were violently beaten by JDS and managed to make it to the final bell.
Good point. But both guys also got violently mangled by JDS who while being a very heavy handed fighter isn't exactly a concussive one punch KO artist. Still an interesting fan friendly fight that will likely end in a TKO.
Carwin is a big guy with a wrestling and boxing background. He is strong and powerful. Thats a tough combo. He used to gas but he look much more durable versus JDS. Carwin should win but Nelsons heart and power can make the difference. Nelsons great but when hes in with a better man does he ever turn it around and show anything accept a huge heart and skills that would be more effective to 205? I'll give him the CC fight but Werdum, Mir and JDS were tough but simply in with better fighters.
Carwin is coming off neck surgery, and a year and a half layoff. Not good, especially for a guy like Carwin with no defense. I don't care who you are you are never 100% coming off a neck surgery like he did. Roy is probably going to knock him out fairly quickly.
I like Nelson, natural unreal hard man. He will outlast carwin if he can weather the storm. Which happens to be one of his strengths. That bomb right hand is a threat to Carwin, mixed with his unconvential style. jds may have won the war against Nelson but his chin was tested by nelsons sneaky hard right
