But your fact's come from studies based on sports such as sprinting ect... No one has done a conclusive study based on power punching in boxing. It certainly is interesting, but that by itself is not enough to prove the point. Alot of people have differing opinions on what makes a really good puncher, hand size, wide shoulders, wide hips, thick legs, hip rotation. Quick explosive strength will help make a punch faster, but not HARDER. A fast punch helps cause a knock out because its unexpected and harder to react too, it dosent make the punch itself harder.

This is your opinion speaking. Give us some statistics. Blacks might be faster as a rule but that isn't going to result in more power every time. Marciano wasn't fast but he hit like a ton of bricks. Hard enough to KO any white or black man ever put on this planet.

Enough with the "I think blah blah". Give us some reliable scientific studies that you can reference. It should not be so hard to come up with more than three if it is so well documented. If you can't, keep your opinions to yourself.

I doubt any of the racists on this site will bring anything to the table that backs up their racist claims.

You guys really need to stop living in fantasy land and go do something constructive if that is possible.

If I read you correctly, that's one of the more ridiculous comments I've seen on this site. Are you saying that the top contenders, champions, etc. - the guys who compete at the highest levels of the sport, face the best fighters, etc. - have the least power?? That's absurd.

Top guys like Dempsey, Max Baer, Ingemar Johanssen - who were all rightfully regarded as very heavy hitters, got to where they were largely because of their power.

Have you ever seen a Baer fight?? I love the guy, he's probably my favorite "old time" fighter - but he wasn't exactly much of a technician. Dempsey was more well rounded, but again, largely dependent on his power.

The idea that lower tiered fighters hit harder than these guys is, at best, unprovable from the historical evidence. And, it seems to fly in the face of common sense, frankly.

I did not state they have the LEAST power. I said they have GREAT power. But not the pure BEST power. Is it really that absurd to beleive that the hardest hitters are lower teird, since all they have is that unbeleivable power, but since they suck so much at everything else, they are lower teird. You honestly think that can' happen.

And about the highest contenders, the original poster was using the handful best of a certain sport, to make a generalization about every millionth person who competes in that sport.

Also, i dont beleive the top fighters are the best in any one feild, they are just the total package. Their can be some anomolies though

1st highlighted sentence: broad racially based generalizations, but likely backed up by anecdotal general examples.

2nd highlighted sentence: very specific racial generalization not likely to be backed up by general example... you really believe that statement??

3rd highlighted sentence: request for detailed backup completely lacking in previous 2 sentences and, given the original poster's question (anecdotal general examples of white dude power punchers), pretty much beside the point. We're basically dealing in anecdotal examples here. That's how I took it, anyway.

Really, the most interesting aspect of this thread, to me, was looking at the Ring-100 punchers again. Danny Lopez at 26... wouldn't have guessed that. If the OP had a big-ass agenda, that 100 rather puts it to bed, I'd say.

And your last sentence is pretty much the most rascist thing that has come across in this thread. But you probably know that.

Ok you dont do scientific studies to prove that water is wet and that humans needs oxygen to live.

They are accepted scientific fact and therefore are taken as a given.

Me saying that white guys have less Fast Glycolitic muscle fibres is ACCEPTED scientifically the world over.

its not something i am trying to prove - its not like my theory- it is being taught in every single medical/sport science institute in the world.

The fact that you argue it means you have neither read anything on the matter or understand human genetics.

There are exceptions to every genetic TRAIT. it is not a law that says all black guys are going to be Lebron or Roy Jones. Nor does it state that all white guys will be short unathletic and white but beat Kasparov at chess.

They are scientifically proven GENETIC TENDENCIES-

And im telling you that those muscle fiber traits dont effect the direct power of the punch, which is shifting over of body mass. They might make the shifting a bit faster, but punching is based off technique and bodyweight. Some guys focus on it more then others, others are naturally inclined to move their bodies in certain ways. Thats what seperates power punchers from normal punchers, not some kind of muscle fiber. Unless your talking about a certain few genetic freak athletes.

your right. All the genetic advantage in the world is nullified by technique.

but if you took 1000 black athletes and 1000 white athletes and gave them all the exact same teaching and they all learned to punch the same way. then you decided to find the top 100 punchers measuring their power on PSI scale. which 'race' (all humans i know :patsch) would have the higher number in the top ten?

I would say they would all have the same power. Power punching works on a kinetic chain. Those fast twitch muscle fibers you mentiond, might help knock out fighters, due to being unexpected, to fast to react, or they might even make the brain jar more (but thats debatable). However on a PSI scale, explosive power wont matter as much, Since no matter how slow it takes for the punch to get their, it will have simalar power in the end.

its not like comparing a bowling ball going 5mph to a bowling ball going 10mph, we are talking about tiny tiny fractions in speed. Which does not make that much of a difference imo

afraid i cant agree with that.

PSI on impact would be greatly affected by the speed in which the punch is thrown. Power or force is very very measurable and force = mass x acceleration.

again not my theory someone way smarter already logged that one

What about those slow ass power punchers? Where do they fit in your equations? Were are their fast twitch fibers? Juan urango is one of the slower fighters in the top of his division, yet he might be the biggest hitter. Do you really think .005 of a second separates a power puncher from a normal puncher? Because that's the difference in speed we are talking about here.

you can pack plenty of pop by being a slow mover you just have to add alot more MASS or WEIGHT to the mathematical equation. Or you can just be a white guy with great genetics

i am not saying white guys cant hit hard or run fast i am simply saying to a greater percentage that we can expect to see more black guys than white guys as power punchers

Forget about Caucasians, what about the Orientals?

You watch any kung-fu film and they're knocking people out left right and centre with the old one inch punch. Never seen one do it in a boxing ring though.

Prime Jackie Chan Vs. prime Tyson. Who wins? I think Chan by wide UD.
