I believe Piers and Lewis go way back. They've known each other for a long time and he's probably been to countless fights. His newspaper would have covered Lewis events and significant boxing matches involving English fighters so I'm sure he's not clueless about Lewis or big time boxing. As for Trump, he's always said he's been a lifelong boxing fan. Hell, he hosted most of the biggest fights of the mid to late 80s at this Atlantic City casino and had a working relationship with Don King and Mike Tyson. Trump probably knows more about how the business of boxing works than anyone on this site.
The best is the quote from Trump about Lennox, don't quote me but it was something along these lines: "Lennox is a tough, smart guy that will just keep coming back. He has proved this in his boxing career from getting up after being knocked down and winning many fights." Has Trump ever even watched him before or did he just say that because it sounded good? atsch
