What a tribute. Forty years after his death, sixty years after he hung 'em up, Jack Chase stages another comeback, and because of you we will never forget him.

    Thanks for that, Stonehands.

Stoney, people are praising your prose and writing style, and that's fine because those are extraordinary. But it's the detailed level of research that bowls me over here. You could almost forget boxing and just admire this as a first-rate piece of investigative journalism. Very, very well done. I learned a lot, and that's the best feeling.

    Definitive.

    Can I just say.

SH, you have basically brought to life the 'fringe' members of the Murderer's Row and enshrined them in a way that they have deserved. Not only a great article, it is a service to boxing.

The small army of posters out here on ESB Classic ain't big enough to take down a borough but it's got enough knowledge to light up the whole city. Many of you take alot of time sharing that knowledge and insight out here and without even realizing it, you inspire me at least as much as the story of Jack Chase inspired you.

Listen, the expenses to research that series far exceeded my compensation for it, but your regard for it makes me feel like a rich man.

So, my hats off to you all... including those bums who didn't read it.

i read it, man. i saved it for when i finished work and read it all in one shot. i'm a professional writer myself (as you can surely tell from my expert use of capital letters) and i'm working on a book that is largely about boxing too. our styles are wildly different but your work inspires and impresses me every time. for the record my favorite piece of yours is what you wrote about duran/barkley, but this was again another wonderful addition to your body of work. i just say this because i rarely contribute to the forum and i would hate for you to think that only the people who commented read and enjoyed it, as i'm sure is not (and you know is not) the case.
