hes good value for money too. win lose or draw his fights are usually pretty exciting. he deserves to be there.

 

It never occurred to look up his record, but yeah, he's only been tkod once, and that submission by Mir.

I agree with these two completely. He looks like an action figure and he comes out to fight. He's some very respectable wins, and with few exceptions he's only ever lost to the top guys.

Given the fact that he's 3-1-1 in his last five, the momentum he's got from his last two wins (over what were supposed to be up and comers), especially the kod of Barry, the way he looks, and the lack of depth at HW, one or two more convincing wins and it wouldn't be hard to market him as a legit challenger

 

I thought he could have lost his last fight, the first 2 rounds could have easily gone against him

 

If he got a win over Big country and Frank Mir/Shane Carwin then i think he has earned his title shot

 

Exactly. He's one of these guys that if you are legit championship material then you'll beat him and he'll make you work for your victory. But if you're not really a top-level guy, then he will more than likely turn you away. Mitrione is a pretty decent fighter but he's not at top level standard, so Kongo makes him look horrible and walks away with the ugly win.

I don't understand how those two judges had Kongo winning/being even with Mitrione in the second round. Kongo clearly lost that one. Not that it really matters though. I think that the best that Mitrione deserved was a draw, and I was glad to see him get knocked down a peg. Dude is no where near as good as some people (including himself) were making out. It was like an extension of the Brendan Schaub hype.

 

Bang on I didn't get the hype too, Just because they are "Great athletes" doesn't mean either are great fighters with all due respect both have beaten cans & shells prior to stepping up.

 

Kongo will never get a title shot whenever he fights someone whos a serious contender he comes up short see the Cain and Mir fights.

 

Match Kongo and Nelson, but not for a title shot. They need another two wins at least.

 

Id like to see him against Carwin. Why? Cause i cant stand him (Kongo)

Kongo could easily fight Cain if he comes through JDS, the could market the fight as the only man to ever take Cain the distance.

 

And if JDS wins Kongo will be one of the few HWs signed to the UFC that he hasn't already fought.

 

Just goes to show how horrible MMA striking really is. This guy was supposed to be one of the best strikers in the division, then gets outstruck by BJJ guys, wrestlers, and NFL rejects.
