After Bivol dominated Canelo he has taken nothing but handpicked fights with guys that are smaller moving up to 1-2 divisions or have no chance according to the odds makers. Tonight he didn't take any risk. He just wanted to fight an easy opponent and he got destroyed. His legacy is completely ruined now. He lost to a guy that moved up from welterweight.
In my honest opinion, Crawford cherrypicked Canelo in the same way that Leonard cherrypicked Hagler. Both of them were still the #1 middleweight champion but Hagler was on his last legs similar to Canelo and Crawford saw this. Canelo and Hagler even had near identical records before they lost to the smaller man moving up it's actually a pretty strange coincidence
A lot of us saw from the very jump that Canelo made a bad decision taking this fight. Didn't take a rocket scientist to see that Bud was gonna be too good. I honestly think it's a pride thing with Canelo. He's okay with getting his ass kicked by Black guys and Euros, but his Mexican pride made him terrified of losing to another Mexican, hence the Benavidez duck.
Canelo and Crawford are both superwelters who happened to fight at 168. If Canelo did not duck legit contenders like Benavidez, he would have been exposed much earlier.
Canelo didn't have that much options at 168 although thats his own fault for ducking Benavidez so hard that he moved up.
Both thought they could win. Canelo underestimated how well Crawford would hold that weight. Canelo unable to land his power and his body attack wasn't sustained enough to make Crawford blink. Then Canelo tired and started to fall apart in the late late rounds. Let's not ignore Canelo is clearly off them good roids now also.
