I know the notion that people can reduce their likelihood of being knocked out goes against the rules. I am convinced that i was much easier to be put to sleep when i was 19 than i was at 25. I know people say a glass jaw can't be corrected, i never had a glass jaw but did get sparked twice in my late teens, it hasn't happened since. Khan will never have an iron chin but his beard will have improved imo. He can avoid Prescott type punches? h will be ok.
No. They. Can't. Or in this case: No. They. Khan't He is a Glass Jawed joke and will continue to be a Glass Jawed joke.
your chin cannot improve, i have never been down and have had everything from my nose broken three times to being hit with bottles and jumped by crowds of 20. Never been wobbled or put down to the canvas, outside or inside the ring, im afraid you have a glass jaw im afraid if youve been sparked twice by the time your twenty, you have a china chin. Admittadly the only time ive been slightly wobbled was by a punch to the temple in a sparring session, but then again that punch is known to disrientate everyone momentarily. im not bragging, just have a thick jaw and skull, takes more than one crack to the chin to wobble me, dunno what it is, but its definately god given looking at some of the china chinned fighters out there. EDIT: ok i have been wobbled, but jjust that once lol
Well, stranger things have happened in the past, chins improving or getting weaker are not that unusual in this sport, just rarely happen. But in Khan's case, an improved chin could still mean a weak chin. Remember he was always regarded as a chinny amateur, was dropped in the pros, and despite having experience in these situations and having fairly good recovery, he was stopped by Prescott in 1. Khan has a very weak chin. Having so weak legs doesn't help it either.
Is there any evidence, can anybody name a fighter who suffered Shattering knock outs early in their career who came back later in their career with a much improved beard.
Cotto was stunned many times and knocked down by Torres at LWW, but took much better shots at WW. PacMan was stopped at the lower weight classes (well, by body shots) but seem to have an excellent chin nowadays. Vazquez and Rafa Marquez were both knocked out early in their career, and yet they built a HOF career in the past few years. There are many good examples.
A fighter might appear to show a better chin only because the fragility of his chin might have been exaggerated in the first place. The minute a guy gets KO'd, or even knocked down a few times, people starts screaming that his chin is china. Thus, when he shows even the slightest bit of resiliency in later fights, there might be a tendency to conclude his chin is getting better.
khan's fragile chin is NOT exaggerated tho ive heard of people doing neck exercises to increase their ability to take a punch but i dont kno how much that helps sorta like mayweather does/did with the head gear and chain/weight at the edge of the ring. nebody kno what im talkin about?
