Jesus christs..... you guys need to get over the "He moved up to challenge himself" bull****. 90% of the time, they move up because they can't make weight, or was KTFO of the division. and have to move up. And with 4-5 titles per division.... challenging themselves?? No, it's called title jumping that more do. Find the easiest belt and go from there.

But this "He moved up to challenge himself" is a crock of ****.

So what? You want to buy in to the lie about moving up, make it some huge important factor to greatness....more power to ya.

We don't live in the days when moving up and grabbing more belts was actually was a feat to be proud of. There are easily 4-6 or so belts per division.

Adrien effin Broner is a 4 weight titlist. Robert Guerrero a 5 division titlist. At no time were any of those two considered the top guy in the division they were in.

But they must both be greater than Hagler and Lopez, since they didn't 'DARE' to be great.

    Context is key.
Hagler didnt have to move up.
Lopez didnt hsve to either but he would have really enhanced himself by succesfully doing so.

Yeah? And if they stayed around longer to set longer records of title defenses, that would have as well. You don't seem impressed with the discipline it takes to stay in one division. But getting fatter and moving up....road to greatness.

Look,I generally agree with you but the idea is context is key.
ONE of the reasons Gonzalez has surpassed Lopez is showing ability in several weight classes. That is clear to me at least.

The most overrated achievement today. Most fans want great fighters to move up so they'll lose.

I was a big fan of Robert Ghost Guerrero. But being a 5 division titlist, and never being the recognized world champ in any of those 5 divisions should send a serious red flag to those 'greatness is moving up' foos

Correct. Ghost never separated himself from the pack.
