The ecconomic factors from my earlier point are still as valid as facts have repeatedly proved the point. Hatton's situation was very different to the vast political games of the 90's. Bias is a factor. But as ive said its not that you are and they arnt. Its the percentage of folks who talk ****, not that only a certaqin group do. Take the Calzaghe Hopkins thing. Even the most pro Calzaghe fan (Me included) give Bernie a chance, and even think it will be close. Its the absolute ridiculous nature of a large chunk of Pro Hopkins fans who seem to think Being s great fighter automatically removes any chance of defeat. I think we read from the same page, its the creatins who seem to think ****.
Economic factors ARE valid. But you haven't proven how they are more valid HERE than they were for any other fighter in any other situation. IMO, there are more political games going on now than there were before.
we've discussed this before. benn only last year said that he never received any offer from RJJ to fight and that he was suprised about that as they could have made a huge sum of money and that he feels RJJ would have beaten him with ease.
Eubanks IMO was underrated by some and over rated by others. I think he was the perfect boxing villian the british favored Benn over Uubank because of his out spoken ways which at the time I think did not do him any good but at the same time his coments and his ways over the years sort of made him a british legend . Having read his book its clear to see he is misunderstood but I can not help but feel he kind a liked that way.
Collins went to Pensicola and called out RJJ after his fight with (not sure who), what more could Collins do other than fly to the US and try and rile RJJ into a fight?
Benn duck roy jones? you having a ****ing laugh. Benn spanked every american fighter he faced simple. Benn's an animal RJJ used MCClellan as an excuse
Eubank - I had him down as a mouthy tw@t. Much preferred Benn, Watson, Collins & nice to see Calzaghe put Eubank where he belonged - sat on his arse. Someone mentioned Herol Graham - the best champ we never had - what a talented boxer
Yeah but i eubank was in his prime he would have beaten jc, because he had very good power i mean look at that shot what he delivered to benn in the 9th round and watson in the 11th of their second fight. It was a UD not a knockout.
First off any version of JoeCalzaghe/Roy Jones/James Toney beat Euank and Benn imo. Back to the thread though I think Eubanks was an elite talent, not a natural one he had to work for what he achieved and struggled against fighters he should have dealt with with ease, the likes of Ray Close for example. Eubank had some great wins over Benn and Watson, aswel as some other contenders who are now underrated, like say Rochigianni. Eubank imo was never really interested in making dangerous fights, he was the biggest name in boxing at one point and was making a mint knocking below par oponents out. He HAD to fight Benn/Watson and Collins because these were the guys on his door step, he'd have to go out of his way to risk a fight with Jones or Toney, not something he was interested in. Benn would have travelled to fight anyone, he won his first world belt in the States and beat some top Yanks. however when the Roy Jones fight was at its peak, (after Benn beat G-man) Benn wasnt.
Eubankl was never the same after the Watson fight, he turned his style to an out puncher and never looked to finish a fight afterwards.
Eubank is one my of favourite boxers of all time, back during the Benn/Eubank rivallry everyone seemed to prefer Benn, i was all for Eubank, i loved his style and showman way that got up people noses, a bit like Naz, thats the type of people i support, both could back it up as they had genuine Charisma, nothing false like Mayweather. Chris is very well liked, in fact he gained more fans late in his career when he showed more humility during harder fights that he lost or came close to losing.. I think he was a rare character, the type of chatacter that is lacking today............... God bless..
