Sanigar does a good job keeping the sport going in the South West where it is a boxing dessert It is easy to find people that know about boxing in Sheffild or Canning Town but try Bristol Weston Super mare or Taunton Chris is the only one keeping the sport alive here and he deserves respect
I'm sure he is a lovely bloke, who cares about boxing and regularly donates to food banks and donkey sanctuaries... doesn't mean he is a good cut man.
Chris sannigar. Very decent bloke. Good middleweight and very old school coach. Very very trustworthy person A good cuts man is something of a fallacy You either bleed a lot or you don't. Mick williamson is calm and collected because its his sole job in the corner Sannigar has two jobs Yes he's a bit shaky Survived cancer and is a 100% top man . And a damn tough man at that. Respect
Seems a great guy. Thought he let Lee down at the weekend tho. Even more as a manager than a cut man. Selby should never have took that fight. Looked drained from the first round. The tough decision should have been made to move Lee up in weight giving up the belt way before the weekend. Became apparent by the fifth round where he got the chance to get his boy out of there...the boy was drained and had very little in the tank all night. Pushing his punches. Getting knocked about by a non puncher. Very slow reaction time. Definitely wasn't the time for a motivational speech to gee Selby up. Experienced guys should know the difference between an underperforming fighter and a guy that was looking worryingly drained at the weight. Always difficult to give up a world title...probably more so with Selby not really being much fun to watch....but safety of the fighter should come before monetary gain every single time. I don't think Selby will recover from Saturday night tbh. The worst of it is Selby actually has the attributes to move up in weight and have success. I m not sure he will now tho. Hard loss to take for him.
Out of curiosity does anyone know how much a cutman can make ? May be wildly wrong but doesn't Mick wills drive a cab ?
Yes but there is not much demand for a cuts man during the day ! I doubt if these guys make enough for a living
no one has said anything negative about him in terms of what kinda guy he is or anything. Just that he has been poor as a cutman in two fights recently. I can understand if it was lower level fights but we are talking about huge world title fights. To not have a specialised, experienced cutman in the team is very strange. Given that it can be a determining factor in the fight. Your blood is no different from mine, if we have the same cut in the same place the same amount of blood will pour out.
Mick williams for the fight on sat night would ask a G. Hes the best paid cutsman tho. A british fight with a cutsman other than williams would cost about 250/300. Mick would be 500 qid
