Hey I'm a Dana critic as much as anybody but Chuck quit drinking and dedicated himself and looked in good shape and being friends probably convinced Dana to give him another shot. I can understand that. It would be easier to cut someone who isn't a good friend.
Because Chuck probably talked him into it by bugging him about it until he said yes. Do you honestly think him making money was the bigger motivation than giving his friend what he wanted? Their friendship is well documented on both sides; Dana not wanting him to fight is well documented by both, Chuck insisting on it over and over is well documented. Also, Chuck was supposed to fight Tito, until Tito pulled a Tito and pulled out. Chuck would not have been at risk against Tito. Once he broke down, obviously he is going to give him the headline, it would be insulting not to. It might have been a mistake, but his motivation was obviously to help a friend (and give Tito a beating), not make a quick buck by risking the health of his friend.
I probably watched less than 3 minutes as I just got home less than an hour ago. I tuned in not knowing if it would still be on, and there it was 1:35 into the first. And btw, I like MMA as a sport. I just think that the good fighters that are worth watching are few and far between. Fedor, GSP, Machida, Rua, Silva... I find these guys very good. And I've been watching some CroCop (sp?) videos and that guy is good as well. though you have some elites there is a severe drop in quality after the top guys. I put that down to MMA being a young sport.
I'm sorry I just never heard you say anything other then "MMA fighters are ***s rolling on the ground with each other" and "These guys can't throw a punch, they'd get killed by any amateur boxer."
you're mixing me up with someone else. I find the ground game pretty interesting but what the **** do you want me to say, as a boxing fan, when you have so many of these name MMA guys who end up slugging it out like club fighters, sticking their chins out in the air. I don't like that ****. but for the most part, I like the sport, especially watching the elite fighters.
Lets keep it simple ..Yes Chucks never been that great even in his prime. He developed this artificial aura of invincibility when the truth was he was very vulnerable against good strikers. His two wins against Randy are commendable because Randy boxes well. I wouldnt go and say its a fluke but it was Chucks shining moment.
Forgive me maybe I do have you confused. It is annoying seeing some of these guys techniques but you also have to remember they aren't boxers.
Oh for ****s sake, if being at worst the second best 205er in the world for a decently long time is "not that great" what is? Keep in mind he actually had to do things like make weight, pass drug tests, and have a commision to make sure the fights were neither fixed or absurd (Kanehara)
Havent we heard that before. Bottom line is, when you're shot, you're shot. Dedicating yourself wont help your punch resistance. Chucks been done for awhile now, Dana just loves to line his own pockets. And if it means sending out Chuck for yet ANOTHER slaughter, so be it.
I gave him credit for Randy but lets be honest his list of opponents upon careful scrutiny paints a diff picture. Tito, Sobral, Vernon White (who could make WW), Horn (are you kidding me??) All grapplers except White with no semblance of a striker whatsoever. His run was sandwiched by two devastating KO from another overrated guy Rampage.
Maybe you are right but he was gonna fight Tito and Tito hits like a woman or hits women or something like that.
I agree although didn't he lose a decision to Rampage the first time? Or lost more to exhaustion I don't remember it being devastating anyway.
