Went to a party in Dallas on Saturday and met
a lady from Bayonne, New Jersey who knew Chuck Wepner
    and his family.

She said she knew him when he worked as a secuirity guard and liquor store manager.....and of course knew of his fights.

She said he was a nice man.

Hell, yeah....... Wepner is cool........ He was a thumb-breaker for the Mob and a bodyguard of sorts... He liked to drink, bang broads and whiff Coke...... Hell, he gave Ali a good tussle in 1975...... Wepner is blue collar....... I like blue collar guys who come up the hard way or long road...... I've noticed these types of folks are more down-to-Earth, compared to the spoiled brat born with a silver spoon and a scholarship to Yale or Harvard...... I like folks you can sit and have a beer with and have a candid conversation without being talked down to........

Hard as nails ! What about a hypothetical match up between Wepner and Tex Cobb ? Not much sweet science, but a good punch up.

Chuck is a good friend, I have known him for approx. 30 years or more. He has come to many boxing functions that I have run and was always the life of the party. He is a Great guy!
