This I don't think is common knowledge but back in the early 30s when a movie studio was looking for a new male star they used Jack Dempsey as their benchmark. They wanted someone that looked like Dempsey and Clark Gable was the actor chosen.
Not to my knowledge. Again they used the Dempsey look at their benchmark in picking the next leading male star they would then promote. The actor chosen was Gable.
Jack Dempsey would only agree for his life story to me made if only Clark Gable would play him. But WW2 came and the film was never made...
They had the same problem finding someone to play me in my biopic. They finally settled on Brad Pitt.
