Not necessarily so. Look at Eggington. He's had a couple of losses along the way and hasn't been dropped from Matchroom shows, cos his style is TV-friendly, as is Ritson's.

I don't think I have ever said this before about a UK boxer, but if he keeps winning in the next 18 months he is going to be a huge star. He more than likable, he has an entertaining style, can bang and has potential for a massive local fan base. Big 'if 'obviously, as I am unsure what level he is capable of reaching. But he looks too good for domestic level and Hearn will likely manoeuvre him in easier fights in and around European/lower World level. Might sound ridiculous but in terms of draw power I think he might be second only to AJ in a couple of years.

Nice lad, 100% behind him. It will be interesting to see how he gets on beyond European level. I'm glad he's in no rush, he needs to see how he gets on against Patera who is capable and go from there. Maybe a defence of the European followed by a couple of fringe world level guys.

I must have missed this part of the interview. He came across as a typical Geordie chav and a bit of a troublemaker in the parts I was listening too. Lets hope he has matured and changed his ways.

The reason Josh left Eddie is because Matchroom did not renew his contract. The Matchroom relationship soured after they refused to fight Selby or Quigg. Where else was he supposed to go as a British domestic prospect? Frank was the only other viable option and that is why he signed with him.

I was basing my thoughts on the others time I've seen him spoken to, as well as that one

I don't think anyone is saying he is a saint, obviously been in some trouble with gangs which is concerning. But he is honest and transparent and the whole interview is superb. He is also pretty candid about his own career, some of the obstacles he had faced and mistakes made. There is no nonsense about how good he is or what he is going to do to Lomachenko etc.

    Hence likable.

If you think that matchroom didn't also want to sign Josh back up at the time he left to go to Frank, then you really have no idea about the situation.
Eddie would not let a stupid thing like sour grapes effect his business decisions, his dad would hang him from the rafters should he learn that's how Eddie runs the family business.
Josh has never been offered quigg. You're making things up now.

I totally agree. Every man and his dog is warming to Lewis and at this rate, you are quite right, he has the potential to be no2 draw in the country.
My only concern at this point is that he lacks in the defence dept should he go on to world level.
It's not that his defence is bad cos it isn't but he dos get caught clean a little too often for my liking.
Defence built into his offence is his weak point at this time, but so far he's been getting away with it.
That won't continue when he mixes with the top guys.
Also Eddie can be a bit naive when it comes to matchmaking imo.
And his model of taking opportunitys at world title shots whatever the circumstances, shows his immaturity in bringing fighters through imo.
I hope ritson doesn't find himself in this position because there is a chance, should this kid be brought through correctly, we have another major star on our hands.
Boxing is a long drawn out process and learning and implementing new skills can take time.
You can learn to take your head off the line after each shot quite fast in the gym.
Shadowing and drilling with gym buddies is quite a quick process but implementing those skills in a real live fight, especially under pressure is a different kettle of fish.
Hopefully Lewis' team are onto this aspect of his development and we see improvements in respect to his defensive responsibilities.
We may be the lucky ones to witness the next shooting star.

They did not offer him a new contract. That suggests to me they did not want to sign him. Do you have some more information you'd like to share?

Really like Ritson and the guy calling him a chav is a *****. Most boxers come from a working class background so I guess they are all chavs? Would like to see him fight a boxer/mover to see how he would deal with that style cos if he moves up he will come across people who can take his power and potentially outbox him

Eddie did offer Josh a new contract .
That's a fact. If you disagree you are either,
    (A) hating on Josh,
    (B) reading/listening to duff information, usually written/broadcast by someone hating on Josh.
You've already stated that Josh has turned down quigg which is something you've just made up and haven't supplied any evidence to support your claim. I follow Josh closely and I've never come across him been offered the Quigg fight.
You are now making up stories about Eddie not putting an offer in to Josh.
I remember Eddie saying at the time of the split , "they have split on good terms, he had an offer that Eddie thought wasn't worth trying to beat and he understands that his dad shaun has to make decisions that he thinks better suits his son.
It's been a good time at Leeds but ultimately the road matchroom want to carve out and what Josh wants to carve out is a little different.
Eddie was very diplomatic about the situation and tbh I wouldn't be surprised to see Josh going back to Eddie one day in the near future
I seriously have to come to the conclusion that you are (A). **see above**

The statement put out by Matchroom clearly stated they did not offer Josh a new contract.

"Following the expiry of our contract in November we were asked to make a new offer to Josh,” said Hearn. “We did not share the same plans as his team and decided not to make any further offers"

Fairly obvious what those plans were as outlined in my previous post.

There is an interview with Steve Wood just after they split ways with Steve saying " we told Eddie we would fight Scott Quigg if available " or something along those lines .

they were never offered Quigg as you said!
according to Eddie he didn't offer him a new contract . When he found out his dad was talking to other people he decided to not offer him a new contract also stating they both saw different paths for Josh.

Eddie wanted him in world title fights or even Scott quigg he does mention but Warrington and his team wanted a couple more easier fights at Leeds aren a. This is Eddies side of the story by the way so how much truth is in it I don't know.

So either Eddies telling porkies or Steve Wood is.
