Dempsey was 100% pure badass...he catches so much latter-day revisionist bull**** in this forum.

 

I just ignore it after a while. Why, in 1951, would a panel of distinguished boxing writers pick him as not only the greatest heavyweight, but the greatest fighter of the first half of the century?

Probably is Big Bill Tate, one of dempsey's sparring partner,s along with Chief turner, Marty Burke, Big George Godfrey etc. These guys earned their money !!!

i don't rate dempsey as a top ten heavy.i don't rate old timers at all really versus more modern fighters.
