Cleverly-Kovalev rematch.

Given that Cleverly has said he's considering retirement, I doubt he's interested in a rematch.

 

Really? I hope not. I'll give the guy a pass for now. Getting beat down like that has got to be a life altering event to a proud pro, but I hope he doesn't just hang em up becaus of 1 loss unless there are extenuous circumstances.

 

Absolutely not, I thought Cleverly would win, his gameplan

Even if Clev was dating Frank's daughter Frank wouldn't send him in for a rematch. This kind of beating you don't wish for your worst enemy.

 

Why do so many people hate clev so much they want to see him knocked out again? How can anybody think the result would be different?

I'd be amazed if he actually retired but it gives an indication where his head is at the moment and, understandably, it's nowhere near considering a rematch.

Incidentally, Kovalev should've been deducted a point fir punching Cleverly when he was down but there's no way he should've been disqualified since the punch didn't leave him unable to continue.

 

Meh. I wouldn't argue if a point had been deducted, but things like that happen all the time in fights. Had he landed a real big shot I could see more of an issue being raised. I'd have to watch it again though to be sure.

Yeah, we'll see. I never expected Clev to win this one, but he is a credible fighter with some OK victories, and a style that could cause a lotta problems. If (and it's a big if) he wants to continue boxing I think a new trainer is absolutely vital and he should only continue if his heart is absolutely in it.

Clev could find another career, especially with the celebrity he's already accrued and he also has his degree to fall back on. He shouldn't continue boxing unless he is 100% sure that's what he wants to do.

Loss can, it some cases, be the necessary ingredient for a fighter to grow. Without criticism of Cleverly (cos to me at least, he's still a young man) he has behaved until now, as if the business of Boxing is a bit of a game. If he chooses to continue to box as a career, he must do it as his own man and treat it with seriousness it deserves.

I wish both men, Cleverly and Kovalev, all the best with whatever future they choose.

 

A rematch would be the end of Cleverly's career because he's going to get knocked out. Those crying about the punch when he was down are forgetting that a punch before that is what sent him down in the first place. Even Cleverly isn't complaining about that punch yet drunks on here are. Here's Cleverly's latest updates.
