Although i always enjoyed Julio Cesar Chavez' combinations against Andy Hooligan. Julio was throwing some sick combos that night.

You need to also remember Mayweathers hands weren't shot back then... at 130lbs Mayweather was a big punching, lightning fast and defensively very cute... I think Mayweather was a better fighter at the lower weights before he started to need injections in his hands

Depends on how you look at I guess.

Marquez is the most consistent counter puncher in Boxing, but that's because he doesn't move after counter punching, he stays in the same spot, so even if he counters you, you have an opportunity to punch with him when you have gathered yourself from getting countered, as your in range.

Mayweather is a counter puncher who moves after countering, so even though he doesn't counter as consistently, its because he supplements his counter punching with moving, not getting hit, catching the receipt after countering.

I can see what your saying though, I guess you could say Mayweather is a great pot-shotter, where as Marquez is more of a counter puncher, that said, they are essentially both countering, so it guess its down to your own personal preference.

Irony is, Mayweather used Marquez counter punching style against him when they fought. Mayweather knew that Marquez looks to invite, draw the opponent into mid range, then when they walk in his front door, that is when he starts to make you pay for walking in, therefore Mayweather decided to utilize the reach, strategically peck at him from long range, not fall into mid range and give him many counter punching opportunities, which shut Marquez down offensively for the most part, as his counter punching predominantly is his offense, of coarse Marquez fighting way above his weight did'nt help the situation, but technically, Mayweather did implement an effective game plan imo.
