a question for those in the know. i set up a fight for say, 1978 involving ali. if i leave the 'career stage' option as 'get from fighter record', does that mean it will automatically set it to what he would have been at that stage of his career, i.e post prime.

The game will check to see what his career stage is set at in his individual fighter screen. If you've been fighting him regularly, you've activated the auto-aging, and his record is something like 45-1-2, the chances are he will be at Post-Prime. You could also manually set him to Post-Prime.

Check out some of the imaginative alternate universes on the Forum. My personal favourite is: Cap's Journal

There is an auto-aging formula in the game now but it is based on how you want to set it up.

For example in my universe I have it at

    5-8 beginner
10-17 pre-prime (which means somewhere between 15 & 25 fights they will turn to prime)
    20-40 prime
    5-20 post prime
    5-10 end

You can set as wide of margins as you want. In TBCB 2.5 which will be out by the end of the year it will be set up for dates of ratings ... like you could have a rating as of 1978 for Ali, but this will take some work to get properly set because it will require the database team to make the ratings. But eventually instead of having to use post-prime and other stages you could have several different ratings for fighters.

Like pre and post prison Tyson ratings. We have gotten the programmer and now owner of the game, Andreas, to add a lot of things to help us run our universes. Obviously the next step is for him to design the RPG version so the computer does a lot of it for you. A couple of new features for 2.5 will be advances in the autoscheduler where you can set it to exclude fighters who fought the previous 1-2-3 or whatever amount of months.

The mass ability to toggle on and off the box to include the fighter in the autoscheduler. This will help because a lot of us use spreadsheets for scheduling and this will cut down some of the work. Now I can figure out (using random #'s) who is scheduled to fight for the month and then easily add them to the autoscheduler and let the computer set the matchups.

One feature that I pushed for and got in is the ability for the user to be one of the three judges for the fight. Now at the end of each round if you have selected yourself as one of the three judges it will pop up and ask you for your score. Alexis Arguello will never lose another round on this judges score card LOL.

"...What do you think of the ratings of Klitschko and Chagaev in Title Bout?"

The fighter database hasn't been officially updated in at least a couple of years, so if the European heavyweights are there they would be rated as they were seen at that point in their careers. The TBCB ratings team is looking at several dozen fighters over many weight classes to see who needs recalibrating. I expect to see Chagaev, Ibragimov, Valuev and others up to their current abilities in TB V2.5 when it's released in a couple of months.
