I've wondered how different their careers may have went had Vargas not gotten the nod over Winky Wright....the beginnings of a long climb for Winky and a smooth ride for Vargas (until he smoothly ran into Trinidad's left hook, that is). It should have been a draw at best for Vargas.
Barrera deserved the first fight so i suppose they were even when Barrera got the win in hweir second fight
I wouldn't say Barrera deserved the first fight....I'm a huge fan of both, but I had Morales winning in the first fight, as well as the second fight.
Yeah what sucked more than the decision was that a loss effected Winky way more than a loss would have hurt Vargas' career. Hell vargas lost to tito and a year later he still gets the DLH fight. When Winky lost to Vargas he was back fighting on ESPN for years until Mosley gave him the chance. Mosley had a lot of balls too because he didnt have to take that fight and could have fought someone else with less risk and for more money.
Yeah, I had it for Barrera (HBO darling at the time) when I watched it live, but after re-watching it and rescoring it, using the 10 pt system, I gave it to Morales for scoring more points by being more active. It's just one of those fights where you can get a different winner based on what you look for. You need to start scoring fights using the 10 pt scoring system instead of listening to Lampley and Merchant rave on about the House fighter. :good
Exactly! I tend to watch fights with the sound down or off bcuz the announcers tend to sway peoples judgement with their own agenda/opinions.
