Core Exercises

    Just recently I have been doing a lot of ab work. After my main boxing workout, I normally do 50 situps, 30 second leg raises followed by another drill where i shoot the legs straight up into the air from a leg raise position for thirty seconds. These excersises are probably not the best core drills. What core drills do you incorporate into your workout?

    The flag is the hardest core exercise iv come across i struggle to do 5 with proper form.

    Also standing ab wheel roll outs are no joke either

    Pullups
    Russian Twists
    Lay on swiss ball so that your upper back is on it, ass off it, feet on the ground or a stool or something, and shadowbox. (Optional: Do this under a maize bag so you have to bounce up to reach it. And/or get high first, I'm telling you it's some good times)

    i just bought one of those fit balls yesterday primarily for back extensions, but there really good. i tried out push ups trying to balance just the tips of your toes on the fit ball and hands gripping some of those twisty push ups things (thats the technical name for them) , really good fighting to keep balance you can feel your whole body working

    One armed push ups... They seem to work exactly the right muscles needed for punching including all the muscles in between the ribs.

    Yeah, intercostal like Vibit said. I've got good intercostal muscles :yep

    ****ing annoying though when uneducated slags think they can see my ribs :huh

    Actually it might be the serratus that one armed push ups work. I've always found that whole abdomen area by far the most complicated.

    i reckon there great however in the boxing gym we wernt allowed to use the free arm to help aid us in getting up!!! that way you are using your core more ... and theres a bit of technique to it too. I really really struggle with these especially with any decent weight :oops:
