how good/effective are the methods mentioned here http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/core-strength-training.html
Personally, I find a lot of these "core training" stuff to be a waste of time. If you do total body exercises on a regular basis you should be fine. I'd especially avoid anything on a balance board.
Cheers, just a lot of people have mentioned about training your core, i was thinking of getting it into my workout. So its bvest avoided then ?
Not that it's avoided, it''s just that everything you do exercises your core. If you do squats or deadlifts, you are exercising your core. If you do anything with jumping, running, punching, etc...you are exercising your core.
The problem I think is that loads of people isolate body parts and forget about their midsection. If all your exercises are whole body movements, I would not worry about it either. If you don't isolate, why isolate the core.
They do hit some areas sorely in need of some work. It would not hurt to throw in a few sessions of core exercises. Target the ones that hit the stabilizer muscles that don't get much work in a regular weight resistance program.
