Stay busy fight it seems. He will face Margarito next if he wins most likely.

He wants Marg. Nobody really cares about P.Williams.

Wich is sad, Poul showed us all that hes currently one of the top dogs in WW and yet still everyone avoids him like plegue. :-( Hopefully he'll get his shot at Margo vs Cotto 2 winner or some other top 5 material.

this is merely a tuneup just to get Cotto a KO and his confidence back

Looks like a good confidence boosting come back fight, this makes more sens than fighting Cintron or Berto at this stage.

Though beating Paul Williams, does give Cotto a lot of kudos heading into a rematch with Margo.

He doesn't need a tune up fight,he needs a legitimate challenge.Andre berto anybody? A lot of people have been counting cotto out so he needs to fight someone worth his while

The best thing for his career is to put him in a position mentally and physically where he could beat Margarito in mid '09. If arum & co. thinks this is by giving cotto a confidence fight, it's the right move IMO...as much as i'd like to see him face berto.

    Oh, he doesn't?

I'd like to see you, if you were hyped to death as Cotto and had a perfect 32-0 record with many KOs, and then got destroyed just like he got vs Margo.

No, I'm sure you wouldn't need a tune up fight, you would be boosting with confidence.

yep. many top fighters struggle in comebacks or never recuperate after the flogging he took. i really doubt he'd fight pw it makes more sense that he'd be vacating his wbo crown and cotto fight a cintron for it. depending on how cotto performs and feels maybe a pw fight won't be out of the question.

ok you're a complete idiot and here's why.
1.Cotto is still a world class fighter who wasn't "hyped to death" he beat some really game opponents and that's why he was being considered for p4p status
2.Most believed that for the majority of his fight against margarito he was still ahead in the later rounds.Yeah you can say he got destroyed but he just wasn't mentally ready
3.Although berto is no slouch he hasn't really proved himself to be an elite fighter. So he would be a legitimate challenge for cotto without being a tune up fight nor being a big fight. It would be a credible win for cotto instead of fighting some bum that he can dispose of early.A fight with Berto would test him mentally to see wheres at since the margarito fight
4.AND THE MAIN REASON WHY YOU'RE A COMPLETE IDIOT
I've been in the ring with some of the best amateur boxers in the state of california.I've sparred with pro's,I've sparred with guys 30 to 40 pounds heavier than me,I've been knocked down,I've been cut,i've been injured and i have lost before. So i do know what it's like, did it mess with my confidence? hell yeah but i never quit and i've always got back up.I'm sure you don't know what any of that is like and if a top notch fighter at any weight asked you to spar, you would probably back down in fear.A true fighter is never scared because he has too much pride and passion for the sport.

He's definitely going for the Margarito rematch like said before. He wants to avenge his only loss and he deserves the oppurtunity to do so. If he gets by Margo, then a fight against Paul Williams would be very possible.

First of all, you're a complete idiot for not being able to present your argument without having to call others "complete idiots".

Secondly, I did boxing for about a year at the local gym (it's a club, "Panellinios" is its name, one can go there to learn basketball, volleyball, boxing, swimming etc. you name it). And boy did I get knocked down! So yes, I know a bit about it myself.

You make some fair points. As I see it, our main disagreement is you think Cotto should fight a guy like Berto straight away, when I say it's not bad to take an easy fight first, before he fights one of the division's top 10 dogs. I would have no problem with Cotto fighting Berto, but as a Cotto fan and having seen him get brutally beaten by Margo, I'd prefer he took it a bit easier.
