Cotto walked across the ring, then took a knee without getting hit. His uncle jumped on the canvas with a towel in his hand. Cotto looked at him, shook his head, and then his uncle threw the towel in the ring. After the fight, Cotto said it was his decision to end the fight. He said he did so because he didn't want his family to see him get beat up and because he was thinking about the rest of his career. Not what would you guys call Cotto's actions in this scenario?

    controversial stoppage?

j/k.. Cotto quit. BUT ITS ALL GOOD!! I got respect for that kid,,especially for admitting it was his decision.. Fighters dont usually do that.

Put it to rest already, nobody is saying he didnt, but he didnt pull a Zelenoff in this fight neither he had earned his pay check its not like your typical Andrew Golota type of quit the man fought his heart out.

I think the problem is that there arenumerous definitions to the word "Quit" for different people.Technically i dont think that he "quit" in the sense that he gave up, i think that he realized that his health was at risk and that at that point in time there is nothing humanly that he could have done to reverse the outcome so he preserved his health to fight another day.I think alot of Cotto bashers just love to run with their nonintellectual definition of "quitting" to downplay Cottos performance.Thats all.But i see through that B.S because honestly non of us would last a round with either one of these warriors and half of these posters would "quit" after a single combo from either man~

The man's gotta family. He knew he was gonna get stopped brutally if he continued. Whats wrong with throwing in the towel. I get tired of people acting like the guy has no heart and he's a quitter. It takes a lotta balls just to get in the ring period let alone face a killer like AM. Give the man respect for having the balls to prove himself against the best at 147. Can't say the same for little Floyd no can we?

Id call him a smart ass man!
Come on BIGREG stop downplaying the true definition.I mean i'll ask you once again RESPECTFULLY.....have you ever laced em up in your life and went at least 1 rd???.If so then you would have more than 1 definition of "quitting"~
