How do people see this going?? How do you think Cotto will handle the move up in weight? Is anyone actually impressed with foreman?? Im hoping for a nice beatdown from Cotto to win by KO.
Why no comments in this thread, Brit forum peeps? Personally, as a massive Cotto fan, I can't wait for this one. Really intriguing fight, though; if you look at records and skillset, everything points to Cotto, but if you look at the mesh of styles you maybe see Foreman winning. I say Foreman wins the first half of the fight behind the jab and Cotto closes the distance more and more and enjoys more success in the second half of the fight. Close points win for Cotto, IMO:good.
If anything I could see Cotto having success early and tiring late. Possibly clinging on to a close win.
I think Foreman will do his usual thing but i see Cotto looking good and finding his way into fight and winning on a UD. It will be awkward at first but as fight goes on i see him shipping out some punishment on Foreman and Foreman losing his WBA Light Middleweight Title.
Very intriguing fight IMO. You've got Cotto moving up a weight with a new trainer however there are still questions over how much is left. Then you have Foreman is by far the biggest fight of his career against the best fighter he's faced. It's a very good looking fight but at the minute I'm leaning towards a Foreman UD due to his height advantage & tricky movement. The odds of 3-1 on that look pretty tempting as well
The only Foreman fight I've seen was the last one against Santos, he really didn't look all that good to me, solid boxing skills but not much else, little power, fairly slow. Under normal circumstances I'd say a guy of Cottos' level dusts him but Cotto is coming up in weight which'll make it harder for him, plus he may be ready for the knackers yard. He hasn't looked all that in his last few fights but that may have been due to the level of opposition he's had, which Foreman is a clear step down from. Maybe all those hard fights have killed Cotto off at a young age and now he's down on the level of ordinary fighters. I'd have an easier time predicting this if Cotto had had a warm up fight at light middle first. I think I'll still go for Cotto.
how u think cotto' gona look fight night. imo opinion he's gona be alot smaller than foreman, but still he shud prove abit to much. Cotto close but clear UD but if foreman is 3/1 to just win mie have a cheeky punt on that
I think Cotto convincingly. Better boxing skills, a harder puncher, against an opponent with only one decent win against a disinterested Santos. It's not as if Foreman has the power to trouble Cotto, who can resort to brawling if necessary. Cotto TKO8 or similar - if he doesn't win he needs to think about packing in, because there'd be nowhere to go.
I think Cotto is by far the better fighter, but he's totally unproven at 154 and Foreman, although he is not much of a puncher his style could cause Cotto all sorts of problems. I'll be interested to see what Steward has done to Cotto but i think Foreman could take this.
I can't pick fairly with Cotto. he's my favourite active fighter. I can see him getting cut in this and getting on his bike, out-boxing the boxer. But... if Steward's done as well as he says (and he's been very honest about what Cotto's been doing wrong), then he could take this easily.
Has Cotto mentioned anything about his future beyond this fight? If he wins is he looking to hang them up, go on to try and unify the division or try and get a super fight with Martinez or Williams? Interested to know what his mind set is and how much hunger he has left.
As a massive Cotto fan i'm worried about the stylistic problems Foreman could cause. Cotto was on the small side at 147 so i worry that he'll be too small at 154, plus the amount of punishment he's taken in the last 2 years is always a big concern. Appointing a new trainer was huge for Miguel, as Santiago simply wasn't up to the job, too much of a 'yes' man. As has been emphasised these last few weeks, Cotto's biggest flaw has been his unbelievably bad balance that has left him unable to put any combinations together. So appointing Steward is possibly the best thing he could have done, Steward is big on balance and from the sounds of it this issue has been corrected already, and Cotto is looking so much better for it. I think this is a very tough fight to call, but can JUST about see Cotto grinding out a split decision as long as he's aggressive and pressures Foreman, cutting the ring off well and digging those body shots in. However, it wouldn't surprise me with that snake Arum if the judges give any close decision to Foreman. He's the young undefeated guy, Jewish, and Arum sees him as being extremely marketable. Just got a bad feeling, especially after the way he's treated Cotto after the Margarito fight (basically siding with Margarito), and the Pac fight (catchweight) i can see him using this fight as a way to get Foreman 'over' with the fans.
He said on the Scene the other day that he's open to the possibility of returning to 147 after the fight. I suppose if he loses, the weight might get the blame and he'll move back down. That said, there are loads of good fights at 154 if Cotto beats Foreman as well; Angulo, Margarito II, Martinez, Williams, Dzinziruk, Spinks. Win or lose, I think a fight with Berto is quite a big possibility.
