Cotto vs foreman

A fight with Berto would be interesting. I also quite like the idea of a fight with Spinks but I'm not sure I'd like to see him in with Martinez.

Just had a look at the IBF Welterweight rankings out of curiosity.
What a mess.

I've only ever seen Foreman once so wouldn't really like to try and break the fight down but with the hunger there still and some re-direction from Steward I can see Cotto taking this.

 

i got this feeling with aswell. specially with pac. get the picture cotto was just used as bait

 

I think Foreman will be nervous and rush his work; this is his first major fight after all. If Cotto rediscovers the form of old he will be far to much for Foreman. Although I don't like the sound of him at 154 I doubt it will be a factor in this fight.

 

Depends how much Cotto has left, he is unlikely to fully recover from the marg fight and has looked pretty shaky since. Maybe the new weighht will suit him as he has looked quite gaunt for his last few weigh ins so you never know. Cotto of 3 or 4 years ago would have taken it easily though

In Brit odds you can get 3/1 (which is +300) on a Foreman decision win. I'm not sure if the '2/1' you mentioned is different in American terms (I'm not too clued up on the American method!)

 

I think Foreman wins it and I wouldn't be surprised if it was pretty wide. Cotto is far the better fighter but in Foreman he finds a man bigger, more mobile and quicker. Combined with him going up in weight, and contrary to popular believe, I think Foreman has a bit of pop and can (although doesn't) use it. Cotto is battle worn, Foreman may even stop him, although it is a bit far fetched.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Cotto, just don't see him winning this.

Couple of knock downs for Foreman en route to a UD. (although, this is ****ing Miguel Cotto and he could make me look like a fool.)

 

I think Foreman wins but theres a possibly he gets robbed.

 

It's important to remember how mediocre Foreman is though. His best win was against a flabby, bored, slow Santos. That's his entire form and he didn't look incredible doing it. Cotto's flaws are well known, but Foreman's done nothing to suggest he's particularly good.

In boxing terms Foreman is a great big steaming pile of guano...if Cotto can't beat him he should retire in shame.

The IBF rankings are the most transparent of the lot. They expect mandatory opponents to be fulfilled, allow for unification, don't create crazy interim belts and recognise other champions outwith their own rankings if they don't apply for sanction.

They were the subject of a serious corruption investigation some years ago and tidied up their practices accordingly.

 

Cotto whoops that arse and looks sensational in doing so. Think he's going to be rejuvanated under Manny, dont think a lot needs changing, just mainly some more discipline, better general advice and intensity in his training.

 

Yuri Foreman's a pretty average fighter I think, for belt holder anyway. While he holds size and reach advantages, Cotto is on another level and should be able to negate these to pull out a win. I think Cotto will look to get on the inside and target the body of Foreman all night long and wear him down while avoiding that long reach. I don't think Cotto is in any danger of getting hurt either as Foreman is pretty feather fisted. Cotto UD or possibly late TKO.

 

When Steward's talking about Cotto slipping punches again, it's very encouraging. He's a very well-rounded fighter, and he should use his skills more to be a complete offensive technician.

That said, Martinez would probably **** him up.
