Cotto beats Hatton at both weights. Cotto may have struggled to make 140lbs, but Hatton didn't exactly make the limit easy did he? And for the first time in all of his bouts at 140lbs, Hatton would be fighting a man who would be bigger, heavier & stronger than him on fight night!
At least Paulie Mags didn't make Ricky do the chicken dance. **** it... I say the best Hatton at 140 beats the best cotto at 140 6/10 times. At 147 Hatton of Mayweather losses to the best Cotto 9/10 times. But I really don't think Cotto has a easy time of it.
@ 140 I think you have a very competitive fight and i would give an edge to Cotto. @ 148 Hatton didn't make to move to 148 with great results and I believe Cotto takes a wider decision here.
Cotto puts a beating on him at 147. 140 it's closer due to Cotto being a bit drained, his lower punch resistance and Hatton's physical strength.
Only for a couple of rounds...then it would have been as one sided a thrashing as you could ever have. I know you're a true believer Johnstown, but we can't be bullshitting each other on this classic forum about the merits of Ricky Hatton, ..he's gonna lose to most of the guys you post him against..unless they're on par with the "B" list type guys that he was able to beat in his actual fights.
I think Cotto would win at either weight.He is just a better fighter.Hatton would just try pressure same as always.Cotto would start fairly slow and just pick Hatton off as he walked forwards.After a few rounds Cotto starts to step it up a bit and back Hatton away a little,by 9 or 10 it would be all Cotto and he would get a late stoppage win.
at light welter i actually fancy hatton to win but it would be very close at welterweight cotto wins quite comfortably
I do like aggressive fighters..as such I do like hatton..but I also like Cotto. I saw most all of Cottos fights... I saw Paulie featherfists make Cotto do the chicken dance. You can claim I'm biased for Hatton...but your definitly biased aganst him.
At 140 Hatton stops Cotto, Cotto was drained and was buzzed or knocked down by Torres, Corley, Malignaggi and Ndou was hurting him to the body. Plus Paulie won about 5 rounds against him. Hatton would fight at a pace Cotto wouldn't be comfortable with ala Margarito, take Cotto's early quality work and force a fight Cotto wouldn't like. At 147 the weight suits Cotto better, so he may edge it there. But the same factors do come into play, Hatton was more durable and could force a faster pace. I remember when Cotto went upto 147 people were saying he was done after struggling so much at 140 and having to take on bigger men Its a pity this fight never happened as it would have been exciting and a war
