2 guys at the same weight fighting for a belt and theres a catch why cotto must really be desperate if he needs a 1 pound catch weight
Neither guy is a true 154 lber, and both will likely perform better at a catchweight anyway not carrying excess lbs. If it's at the limit Margarito will have a slight advantage being the bigger guy and likely able to carry the weight better and to make it work for him. Cotto being the one calling the shots deserves to be atleast on an even playing field or to have the advantage
If not for the 1 pound, they wouldn't have the right to call it a catchweight. Then it'd be just a reglar fight, and we can't have that! Hope that clears things up.
It's just mental stuff. Cotto's team probably don't care about the one pound. They're just hoping it somehow makes it extra work for Margarito, knowing he has to that little bit more to shed the pound.
Except for the fact that hes not mentally weak. Hes almost always came through any crisis hes suffered, whether it be terrible cuts, being knocked down and stunned multiple times, and having to use a variety of different tactics to win.
He wanted 150, 152 would've been a better compromise, but hey Cotto will feel one lb is better than nothing. He knows he is not a true JMW, and fighting an even bigger Margarito he'd want to make sure he isn't too much past his optimum weight to keep as much of the advantages he had over Margo at 147 as possible, which was mainly his speed, and his movement too, which he failed to utilise last time.
Well, Marg had the advantages of bricks last time. Cotto asking for one pound is pretty fair if you ask me. ;-)
I like how everyone on here wants Cotto to allow Margo to have even terms in a fight that he doesnt even ****ing deserve, lol. But one pound is just a "**** you" from the Cotto camp.
