many people including myself don't rate cotto as a true pure power ko fighter, he has power tho. what i find interesting is that mayorga has tasted the power of oscar, mosley, forrest, tito, vargas and he said cotto is one of the hardest punchers he ever faced thoughts?

His power seems inconsistent. Margarito said he hits like a girl, and Mayweather said he was one of the hardest punchers he's faced. I think him being with Roach has maximized his power and brought him back to the power punching force he once was.

Margarito is just a tough guy that won't admit anyone can hurt him. Plus I think he hates Cotto so I wouldn't take that account too seriously.

its interesting and confusing. cotto cant hurt margarita, mosley could but cotto finishes mayorga quicker than mosley martinez is another example, who took good shots from pavlick and chavez and cotto stagers him with the first big hook
There are different types of power. There's thudding power (heavy shots) and there are snapping power (quick and snappy). Some people are prone more to other shots, but I think Margarito is the type that can handle thudding power because he just has dense bones and a hard chin. But an accumulation of quick snapping shots will accumulate and hurt fighters like Margarito. That's why PAC and Mosley were able to hurt him, when Cotto couldn't even when he landed most of his punches as well.
