Something is definetely different about Wladimir Klitschko! Maybe it is the fights in which he was stopped that has caused him to fight more cautiously, but I think he could have taken Thompson out of there so much earlier had he pressed forward with his jab and right hand. Instead he grabbed so often and wasn't throwing many combinations. It seems the absolute unwavering confidence it takes to stand in and make an impressive showing is lacking in Wlads performances. What is his problem? I don't give much credibility to mouthy David Haye and his assertions that he will clean up the entire division but I can see how he spots weakness in Wladimirs game of late and how he feels he could take advantage of it. Styles make fights and Haye attacking Wlad could pose big problems if he doesn't get hit cleanly. What do you guys think?
Not on his best day. Wlad fights to prevent his opponent from getting any offense at all, this basically takes away any chance Haye has. If Wlad fought super aggresively then Haye would get a small chance if he didn't get flattened right away.
The art of boxing is to hit without getting hit and Vlad does just that. Vlad is an excellent heavyweight champion and a great gold medalist back in 1996. He has skill, experience and is quick.
Haye is too small and could not stand up to Wlads punches. Wlad has the size, speed and jab to keep Haye off of him..and will clinche if Haye gets in close.. the steel hammer would land sooner or later and take out Haye...remember Wlad aint no 200 pound cruiser.
He can, and he will. The fact that Haye is naturally smaller is meaningless - many of the great heavies were under 220, around the mark where Haye will enter the ring. Don't forget that Haye is actually a boxer rather than a puncher (though he can bang) and would use his own skills to prise an opening. Wlad hsa been up against Iggy and Tommo in his last two fights and has been able to dictate and impose his robotic style. Against David he would need to be much more fluid, taking him away from his comfort zone.
Haye won't be under 220. 220 was where he was walking around when he was boiling down to cruiser. He said on Setanta last night that he's 232lbs right now. If he fought Wlad next year there wouldn't be more than a handful of pounds between the two.
I think he would be best around 220 or 225 though - any more and he would lose the speed that would make him outclass pretty much every current heavy - with the obvious exception of Wlad. It would be a close fight, but feel that if Haye is able to impose his will, and has a referee that is not willing to stand for the ridiculous patting down of opponents jabs, he will emerge victorious.
Even with Wlads limitations in the infight, he would control a fight against Haye with his strong jab. The major problem is that Haye cannot take Wlads punches. Besides of that Haye is too arrogant. I don't like him.
This is laughable!! Haye wouldn't even be able to beat Wlad's leftovers!! Sultan would tear this loudmouth apart. If that fight was such a disgrace, why not fight the runner up. I would pay to see Sultan versus Haye!! This guy could not take Sultan's punch or fluid movement!! He's a joke until he fights a legit heavy!!
Sultan couldn't even land a punch and as for his fluid movement, he looked like he was running through treacle. How you can call someone who cleaned up the cruiserweight division a joke is beyond me. A heavyweight champion should provide excitement and set the pulse racing. Haye will try and do that as Wlad obviously is failing miserably.
Highly unlikely. Thompson is a tall and akward southpaw. He proved to be very durable. I really doubt Haye could take one of those early right hands. He will be out. He also lacks the reach to be effective offensively. And yes Haye should fight at least one top 20 heavyweight before getting a title shot. Let's see him first.
Haye is just trying to bait Wlad in to granting him a big money fight. If he fought any top ten heavy as a tune up, he might get exposed. The truth is, he has no idea if he can take a heavyweight punch or not. He didn't look very comfortable against a 5'9" baldy like Fragomeni. Keep dreamin, bud!!
Hayes's not naturally coming in at 220--another Holyfield juice cocktsil and he's there. I'mnotfalling for this Hayes's hype. Thompson beats Hayes.
