I lost interest in Discouraged Tshabalala after he got iced inside 2 rds by that Redneck farm boy---Brian Scott on the undercard of "Bowe-Golota 2" in 1996.... MR.BILL I never cared for Obed Sullivan, either...... Sullivan always lost the BIG fight, as well...... :bbb:hi:
That page is by far the best on Youtube. Me and the owner of it are pretty tight and have had a few chats. He's asked me to give him suggestions on what to post, as he has A LOT of footage he's looking to upload.
I talk to him pretty frequently now as well, and we've discussed trading some footage as well. Really, really nice guy.
After I left a comment on his Lewis vs Gonzalez ('87 Pan American Games), he dropped me a line about it. Did seem a nice chap, and lots of fights which I browsed through for stuff like Ruddock-Jackson which I hadn't seen before. Akinwande-Williams is worth watching by anyone, because it's such a difference to the 'Hugging Henry' reputation and jab-jab-jabber profile he had in his later years. Real energy and venom there. Sorry, don't mean to derail the thread...
No derailing it at all. I'll probably get crucified for it but Akiwande had far more potential then Lance Whitaker, Grant, any of the super heavyweights of the 90's. Anyone remember his one punch, first round knockout of Maurice Harris? Nearly decapitated the guy with one straight right. He just didn't have the intangibles to be a fighter. But I think it's obvious he could have been a hell of a one, considering what he accomplished as a passive nice guy in the ring who had the misfortune of suffering from hepatitis throughout his career among other things.
Henry Akinwande looked good / great when he KO'd Jeremy Williams and beat Alex Zolkin in the 90's...... However, his performance against Lennox Lewis was horrid, and later he got KO'd by Ollie McCall with a wicked shot from the Bull... Christ, I think Akinwande still is fighting---off and on..... However, his career is now in the crapper.... Cheers... MR.BILL
