"Scottish" Craig McEwan has finally found himself a Manager, in Dave Coldwell, after a fair few months of trying. Could be a good arrangement for both men if McEwan has his head screwed on in what is surely his final chance to make something of his career. He's taken to Twitter to try and get on the Prizefighter bill in February which I don't think is the best decision, I'd rather see him take a few fights under the radar to get back in to the swing of things. Another loss in that tournament would be humiliating.
To be honest I think prizefighter is his final chance of making something.....a few fights under the radar will not work for Craig. He is good enough to win a prizefighter if he turns up for it. Maybe after a big domestic fight would round off his career. The man has had so many fights now including his amateur days and all that sparring in Roach's gym. To be honest if he wins prizefighter I think he should retire....unfortunately that will no doubt not happen.
I just hope if Dave Coldwell gets him something of note he takes it and doesn't just talk about it, good luck to him
Do you think he's shot? Whatever route he ends up going down I hope he get's fit and gives it his all rather than trying to rely on his natural ability, which let's face it, he has an awful lot of. It's his conditioning and discipline that have let him down in the past.
Talents there and always has been but as has been said, talent gets you so far.. you need to put in the extra graft. With his head screwed on, he's more than capable of winning PF.
Well think about it, he had something like 300 odd amateur fights before he even went pro. Then 20 odd pro fights plus all that sparring in the wild card gym, probably boxed since he was a school boy, that is a lot of punishment he will have taken in his boxing career. I have heard Billy and other trainers say he does not train right either. In boxing an average fighter who is proper fighting fit will beat a more talented boxer who has not prepared properly. In this case that is Craig McEwan. Another worrying factor is boxing is all he probably knows....if he can't find a life outside of it he will keep coming back for more which sadly is the story for so many fighters.
I don't think it's too late for him to make a few quid. If he could get a pay day off the likes of embank or bulgioni or spike on a sky bill would that not pay the same as prize fighter win. Take an easy fight early then. Step up March or.april then a big domestic fight .
I also trained at Clovie, Craig's legs seem to have gone from his amateur days. I think he need a proper nutritionist and strength trainer as the methods there seem a bit outdated. Gallagher's gym in Manchester will have done him plenty of good. In terms of opposition - he would give Buglioni who is the most over rated fighter in the division a slap around, but would prob find Eubank too athletic and Spike would be 50/50
think eubank is thinking bigger fights doesnt need it only fight out of 3 has any chance is buglioni but he has big punch and prob would stop mcewan anyway imo guy needs to fight more build himself up
