I think Danny is a strange case. A very good fighter, with a heart the size of London, but is probably Britain's dirtiest fighter - yet everybody loves him....... Apart from the commentators at Sky
I think he's a bit of a national treasure danny williams in a low key way. seems a very very good bloke and has had the odd really good performance. he hasnt achieved what he could have done . when he started out he looked a bit special, i remember hagler used to rave about him until he had his first defeat ( who was that against ? some european wasn't it, was it sam ? ) anyway, like williams alot .
I always remember him never doing anything apart from the dislocated shoulder win a stop a **** Tyson. The has got pluaduits for never beating anyone decent or ever showing true potential.
No it is not, but certain people for some unknown reason believe in Danny and think in his prime he had potential to be a world champion but in reality he was not even good enough to contend for the Euro belts.
i reckon he had the natural talent to be a bigger name but for reasons maybe relating to his confidence or dedication he came up short . he did fight for the world title remember . obviously he got demolished but he was fighting the best around at that time.
Serious question so answer it. He found it hard to compete with the guys in Europe, he is nothing more than a popular less comitted Sprott.
Don't knock the Tyson fight. A real achievement. Tyson came in off the 1 round destruction of the not terrible Clifford Ettienne and he battered Williams for the first rounds. Danny Williams is the man who took that last bit of fighting spirit that tyson had. You see him take it from Tyson in that ring. On a lighter note i loved Jim's punch in part 1 of that vid!
Talented guy was Danny, without being inside his camp though I'd suggest he is not the greatest fan of training. It's a real shame. I'll always remember him as someone who had a huge heart in the ring and a lack of commitment outside.
