On a serious note, the sparring story between Foreman & Liston is true, as told by Foreman himself. I don't remember who's headgear came off.. Therefor I can't say which trainer was concerned.

I think I will enter into the spirit of things. Your Boxers are ****,your cricketers are appalling. You haven't produced a decent tennis player since Cash retired, your swimming has declined, and dropped off the radar.
You should try grooming one of the few abo's that you haven't turned into dipsos, for athletic prowess. In short ,you have gone from bronzed Anzacs into a nation of shirtlifters.
Oh, your crap at Rugby too.
    Hope this blends in .:good

Boucher.. a Jem of a post.. all except for the negs' about the 'abo's'.. Mate, as soon as ya think these boys are tracking away toward the setting sun.. you'll see one stand up and be counted.. or be accountable for many demoralising thrashings to O/S fighters.

The depth is strong- still. :D

Mate, there's actually a good handfull coming throug the Am's and Pro's right now.

I know ya joking, and I love it. Be careful though, these kids are hungry... and they'lll cook ya.

    True points all...Janitor.
Swanwick and the article presented in the thread by Niland's widow speak of the spar. And although they are indeed Darcy historians, they lent their name and integrity with those reports. You can believe it...or not. But both fighters were in Goshen NY at that time.

Does the name Eddie Bracken ring a bell from past times?

    NY, Jan 24, 1917:
When asked last night who he expected his first opponent in the ring would be, Darcy said: "I don't care who it is. O'Sullivan has three boys under consideration, and it is to be one of them."

    Mate, Georgie Bracken...

The inspriration for a 10y/o Lionel to make a serious 'go of it'.
Another great Abotiginal (with strong Indian heritage- last name Braiken-Ridge) to prove his worth. He's still going strong, supported by a strong wife..

Both NY Sun and NY Evening Telegram refered to O'Sullivan as Darcy's manager while they were negotiating a bout with Fulton in early 1917.

    Right...

... and I'd guess that both ran stories verbalised by O'Sullivan, whilst in conferance without Darcy present?
