Basically he was the linear light heavyweight champion when roy jones junior moved up to light heavy weight but they never fought each other. Then eventually he became shot and lost a SD to a guy called Julio Cesar Gonzalez, had a 14 month layoff and got KOd in a World title bout. Shame as he spent nearly a decade as champion
Fine technical boxer, and would have been the best LHW Roy had faced and a major boost to his record if he had taken the fight. I think Roy would have an easy time with him though, he did not have the style to seriously trouble a peak Jones. Would love to hear why exactly this fight couldn't be made.
Very solid champion, typical German based fighter as he never ventured out of home and racked defences up. The difference with him and many other German based fighters was fact he could mix it at top level and would of helped RJJ's resume. Antcull summed that up for me i think Roy would of won.
He beat the man (Hill) before Roy did. But he did very little afterwards, and gets overrated because Chinese whispers has led peeps to believe Roy ducked him/he was a genuine challenge to Jones. Roy would've clowned him, seriously.
People that say him and Roy would have been an even fight do overrate him, but I generally think he doesn't get enough love nowadays. He was an excellent LHW and would have given many LHW ATGs a tough fight.
A few Polish guys I know say he is a total Legend at home, he has a red bull like sports drink named after him that apparently sells better than red bull in poland.
