Keep your head up, Ding...and let the haters hate. What else are they good for?

Motivation, for one. Funnily enough, too much positive praise on a fighter can lead to complacency- for example, shortly after everyone on ESB fell in love with Ding's power, all he did was look for knockouts and headhunt moreso than ever, at the expense of a more well rounded game. Can anyone blame him for looking for decapitations every punch when that's what the entire board wanted to see?

You'd be surprised how much more fire a negative comment can have on many athletes in general because it gives 'em something to prove wrong. Having no haters eliminates that kind of hunger.

If you haven't even bothered to watch him before then don't rate him on the basis of a 5 round fight in Singapore for ****.

Darnell is a dangerous fighter. Yes he does get over-rated on here, because he's a genuinely nice guy and people want him to do well. I mean his boxing ability isn't great to say the least, but he's got a good chin and awesome power, which makes him a dangerous opponent for anyone.

He's not a guy suited to short fights, if it's 12 rounds, he's going to be in their for the whole 36 minutes and it's only going to take one big punch to spoil your night.

Don't make a topic about a fighter you've never seen before and rate him on the basis of a 5 rounder. Watch some of his other fights like Nwodo, Arslan or something and then pass judgement. He's not as bad as your making him out to be, though a guy who can box consistently for the full however many rounds to fight is scheduled for, is probably going to beat him.

I never ever rated Darnell highly...but even loosely following the show I know he was having massive weight issues before the fight. He's just not a guy who can fight any day of the week and apparently he's losing his ability to stay focused on the sport, sad to say.

It's not like he was going to win any other way.

That's the kind of attitude that hurts him, and it seems like he's bought into it himself.

Is that any excuse for not trying to develop a jab to work off to get inside or an effective body attack, so he could slow an opponent down in the later parts of the fight and leave them more open for his moneymaking, highlight reel KO's? This isn't a one fight issue, it's a trend I've noticed. The more popular he's gotten here, the more it looks like he's neglected his overall game to give the people what they want, falling in love with his power to the point where he does nothing but haymakers.

The MAN likes to have a ****ing "2 in de mo'nin, get de FatBurger" when he is out and about with a sexy UCLA Cheerleader, so IU say, it's time for the Giant Ding a Ling man to go to the Heavyweight Division.
