This question is posed to any of the British members. I am a Yank, so I dont get to see alot of the Brits fight unless it is Calzaghe or someone big. How is the Middleweight prospect Darren Barker. I notice he has an impressive record. I believe he is unbeaten. Is he better than Gary Lockett? Could he give Pavlik a tough fight? Any feedback would be appreciated.

He's probably not going to reach world class tbh.. Little bit too hittable but he's very good to watch and fights a bit like a sharp shooting mexican a la De la hoya or Alfonso Sanchez.

He needs to move up to British title level before you can properly judge.

Very skilful but seriously lacks power and is a bit too easy to hit. I'd fancy him to beat Lockett but I think he'll just be too fragile to move into World Level.

It's a shame he doesn't carry that bit more power because he is a very classy fighter and could trouble some of the better guys if he did. As things stand he'll have to improve to reach European level.

if he had power then id make him a potential real contender at world level, but sadly doesnt. cant help but thinking if he does make it to that level then the best guys will just walk through his punches and make it pretty brutal to watch.

Darren Barker is a fine boxer with a good set of skills but his lack of genuine power will probably keep him from turning into a true world title challenger. Having said that alot of the guys at middleweight are not too great so if he keeps on progressing he could have a very good career as a fringe contender. Barker is one of the best prospects in Britain and the most likely middleweight to do well. We have a good set at that weight but no real stand outs. His team are moving hm along well and against decent opposition, I would say that early next year he would be ready to move in British title standard but is still some way away from even European level.

He would beat Lockett now. His last fight against Larry Sharpe was pretty good even though he nearly did not make the fight due to lack of sleep, something to do with the adjustment between England and Canada where the fight took place. He still look handy.
