Can someone explain to me what happened to this guy .., apparently he was robbed against a sub-par Toney and then never fought again ? Was he a head case in his own right ? Why was there never a rematch ? Why did he never fight again ?

Dave Tiberi was never going to be championship material. He was a mediocre fighter who had lifetime bragging rights as a result of his deservedly disputed loss to an unprepared and disinterested James Toney. If he had fought on and lost to the Glen Wolfes and Tony Thorntons of the world, his story would lose a lot of its steam. Had he re-matched an angry and well prepared Toney later, he would have been brutally stopped.

He was a Sunday School teacher if I remember correctly. He had the equation right on how to beat Toney... plenty of action for 3 minutes a round, not a second less. The equation alone would probably have not been enough for a sharp Toney... but guess what, professionalism and arriving to your fights prepared is a large part of greatness.
