So overlooked right now it's silly.

One of the few guys out there right now that is a legit fighter who wants the best, not the money.

Just watching an interview with him and he's got that unhinged/dead eye thing going on. Dude's a killer.

    He smokes Caleb.
    Same with Smith.
He beats Canelo due to his size, aggression and combos.

    Anyone else a fan?

Big fan. Its no wonder Canelo doesnt want any of that smoke.

    That's a 50-50 fight with fair judges.

Instead we get Yildirim as WBC mandatory. Joke.

    Spot on.

I think Canelo is a phenomenal fighter at 160, truly awesome. But he'd get found out at 168 if he fought Benavedez.

David is a boogeyman right now.

Right now Benavidez is still young, takes a lot of clean punches, and isn't always focused because he knows at some point his opponent will wilt.

I think if Canelo fought him now then he would have a good chance, but we'll reach a point where Benavidez is too far in his development that he can wield the size advantage and make it very hard for Canelo.

If I had my wish, we'd see them fight now-ish then again in a few years and see how the matchup plays out over time.

Likewise Plant-Benavidez, I favor Benavidez now but it would be an interesting matchup and I think having it happen early in Benavidez's career will generate a lot of momentum for him and interest in the division.

he has potential to be a very good fighter but he is too inactive and either does massive weight cutting/is undisciplined since he struggles to make weight, and that will come back to haunt him every time. time will tell if he turns into an elite fighter or remains just another belt holder

I think David beats Clenelo. I will give Clenelo full credit if he fights and beats David with no shenanigans (catchweight, rehydration clause, 3 week training camps) and if David isn't popped for coke, weed, or missing weight.

David KOs Saunders and Plant on the same night. Aside from Bivol, who might be drained at 168, he's the only one with a pulse in a dead ass division.

If Floyd Mayweather thinks Canelo can beat David Benavidez, even by a disputed decision...The fight would have happened already...

He's the best at 168 but unfortunately he's a weight bully

Being only 24, he'll outgrown the division very soon but he deserves a good name or two before he moves up.

    disappointing
    I like David.
But he brought this on himself,

he gave up his own titles.
Could have use those belts for leverage ...
    No discipline

Benavidez is Canelo's biggest threat at that weight but as Cholo said, he brought this on himself. If and when Canelo unifies 168 Benavidez better be next(unless he moves down to fight Charlo/GGG, or up to fight Bivol or BB)
