I don't mind him announcing the surname twice, that's an old school American style of announcing the fighters. I remember that from watching the fights in the 1980s.
Last night they had a pre recorded Buffer which was going out on the TV coverage but not in the arena so Diamante had to 'step in' and do it inside the arena at late notice. For the first minute or so you had pre recorded Buffer being played over Diamante in the ring. The production was a complete farce. Embarrassing. To be fair to Diamante he did a fine job and it would have been much better if they had just left Buffer at home and let him get on with it. I get the impression he will never be able to shake of the ghost of Buffer.
This guy is playing a character, surely. His latest IFL interview is bizarre. Going round holding a cigar trying to be all edgy, thinking he's some kind of Bert Sugar. Constantly saying BJ Saunders when nobody has EVER called him that. Guy is a total fraud and he definitely thinks he's some oracle on boxing with that tone of voice he speaks in. Diamanté is not in the top 5 announcers on the circuit. I even think Buffer isnt far off his sell-by date, but he is still a legend. Jimmy Lennon Jr for me.
I’ve said before that it’s just a matter of time before Diamanté gets “me too’d”. There’s no doubt in my mind that this utter creep has a number of skeletons in his closet. If you google “wrong’un” his image ought to dominate the search. He makes other dodgy boxing personalities such as Kevin Barry, Adam Smith and Gareth A Davies appear squeaky clean in comparison.
The only thing worse is Andrew IFL Andrew pandering to him, treating him like some superstar which he thinks he is in his own head. McCart has ruined this fight week for me.
Just watched the video and saw McCart throw some f bombs in a desperate attempt to attain Diamanté’s approval. Utterly pathetic all round.
