While he is not the saviour of the HW division, he surely is the Moses, because without his injury [or in some circles he bitched out], the dismal division wouldn't have been led to UNIFICATION! David Haye's injury led the division to the "promised land", so to speak! :D

CHAGAEV/KLITSCHKO, the fight the division desperately needed, one step closer to crowning an undisputed heavyweight champion of the world! :good

    Is it though?

We will never have an undisputed champion while the Klitchko brothers hold the titles.

He didn't lead it to the promised land. He stepped aside and let it happen.

BUT........on the off chance, Wlad sucks against hard hitting, brawling, southpaws (remember Sanders?)....and with him having to now quickly change over to sparring with lefties, Chagaev has one hell of a chance to make the upset here. Klitschko's game plan has been compromised. If Chagaev beats Wlad, its best for the division, cus if he faced Vitali and even if he lost, it wouldnt matter, we'd still have an undisputed champion!

at least when VK retires, Wlad will only have 1 belt to add to his repertoire

Here's a thought.... If Wald gets beat by Chagaev who in turn loses to Vitali should Wlad retire ?
I mean, we will then be in a state where there is a unified/ring/linear champion and with it being his brother and all and there being no chance of getting his title back. I think he should call it a day. Hayes not going to beat Vitali in all honesty and neither will Arreola which would probably be his 2 biggest threats. So if nobody in the near future looks like taking the belts off Vitali and even if they do he'll have a rematch clause, this looks like there could be a scenario where Wlad has nothing to fight for ? Apart from Money of course.

You can bet there'll be a rematch clause - Chag will have to be beat Wlad twice.

Given the questions around Chag (inactive, injury prone, poor recent showings), if he's dominated, there'll be no credit given to Wlad and his #3 ranking will be dismissed as based on a fight from 2 years ago.

It's not the promised land; it's "the best that could be done under the circumstances". I would've preferred the excitement from the Haye fight.

This is great for the heavyweight division. Haye never deserved this opportunity, and blew it by pulling out 2 weeks before the day, and then
having the audacity to say he might be ready in 3 more weeks holding
everybody up. There are thousands of tickets sold, hotels booked, fights,
etc. So HBO, the fans, the promotion should all just stand around with their dicks in their hands waiting to see if his majesty MIGHT be ready
july 11th. Puh-leez. Fukk the haye lovers and wlad haters. Haye had his chance and blew it as far as REAL boxing fans are concerned. Klit/chagaev
is much better for the sport as ruslan is a proven world class HEAVYWEIGHT with more power and a better chin than haye, and not to mention this bout is for the "ring" magazine championship. The only
douchbags who are complaining about this fight are armchair fans. The true fans will be thrilled to hear this news. I know i was when it was announced.
