David Haye's... His performance the other night was crap in my opinion.... The hand injury..? People have latched on this piece of information, clamming that his hand is twice the size of his left hand etc The performance..? Since when in the heavyweight division or boxing history has any fighter won a fight so convincingly in peoples minds, only throwing 10 punches a round, sometimes even less, and landing 1 or 2 clean punches a round..! and also fighting so so negative..? Why the special treatment for David Haye guys..? Lennox Lewis was criticised for by far better performances..? and lets face if Lennox Lewis fought best against big guys, he would of shrunk "The Beast" into the ground with overhand rights........ A 46 year old Evander Holyfield engaged "With The Beast" and fought better than David Haye. David Haye "Ran" all night, he didn't box off the back foot in my opinion, he just simply "Ran". Fought way to negative, even from the start of the bell. So why are people making out he won the fight easy..? why the special treatment..? David Haye promised Violence, and David Haye did not bring violence. I don't want to call him a con man, but.......... Fair enough so why not make that case? Whats with all the Lennox Lewis "passing the torch" stuff? Like it or not he retired 6 1/2 years ago, his career has nothing to do with Hayes, neither does how he would have performed against Valuev. Lewis is a different fighter to Haye, with different skills, physical attributes.
The simple truth is that nobody has ever looked good against Valuev. He is an incredibly awkward fighter. Also, there are plenty of videos on youtube clearly showing Haye's hand is swollen.
His right hand is two times bigger then his left. He done a great job imo. Yes he should of worked a little more but he boxed his way to a points victory. What i don't get is that people say he didn't win yet Valuev and his whole camp admit he lost and also people said Haye would get KTFO yet it never happened. The boy can do no right atm
It is possible that Valuev was so hated, because of previous decisions in his favour, that people scored anything close to Haye so they would have something to moan about if Valuev won...
Holyfield looked better than Haye. The counter-argument to your point is that Valuev has never fought anyone any good. How would you see a hypothetical Vitali/Valuev fight playing out? 'Cause when I think of it all I see is Vitali controlling the centre of the ring repelling wave after wave of clumsy Valuev moves and Valuev quitting on his stool at the end of the 5th. One thing I can't picture is Vitali playing a game of kiss-chase, like Haye. You might say that's irrelevant, but I don't think it is. Haye has made himself out to be the real deal, but if he was he wouldn't have needed to go on the run against Valuev. The counter-point that has been trotted out religously is 'what, you expect him to stand and trade with a man a foot taller and 7 stone heavier?'. But this is a total straw man - as there were options other than running away or standing and trading. My last point. Given haye's tactics against valuev, does anyone seriously see him being a threat to Vitali. Vitali is faster, more accurate and more mobile than valuev. And has a better chin. If Haye had to run against Valuev, what will he have to do against Vitali?
24 fights and he's been linear CW champ and now WBA HW champ. I think he deserve more than his fair share of praise to be honest.
He definitly deserves our praise and respect... Haye can make Valuev look so stupid that he could have won a 120-108 decision. We all know that. That's why I'm so disapointed with his performance. Also that he rocked Valuev in the last suggests, to me at least, that he could trouble Wladimir Klitschko a lot more than I thought he could.
I don't disagree with that at all, I'm just saying that Valuev is incredibly awkward and it's hard to look impressive against him. As for Vitali, I've never been too keen on the match-up and I think Vitali, unfortunately, wins; I have, however, always believed that Haye has the beating of Wlad and, given his tactics for the Valuev fight, I think it shows that he's more adaptable than any of us thought previously as well:good.
