Absolutely mate. Pretty much what I've been thinking. I remember watching Davies-Scarpa & at one point Scarpa was angled off but didn't throw and Davies looked at the ref as if to say 'break' but neither fighter was tied up. Davies just had no idea how to deal with a fighter up close. He didn't even clinch really that fight, just rested until ref broke. Scarpa didn't do enough to make him pay. Davies also showed same look when that jab landed in round three vs Taylor before he took a knee, watch it, he glanced to see if ref would 'break' realised nothing was happening so covered & took a knee. He had no experience of being touched or roughed up.

I know he sparred Luke Campbell & Ricky Burns, but even young Conor Benn surely gave him some work? Davies showed he can take a shot & even though technically flawed, he showed he could scrap on the inside vs Taylor but he has clearly never seen adversity in a ring before that & with no amateur losses, it becomes more evident he had had things mainly his own way. In one sense, I think he's a little underrated now & needed the Taylor fight to help him grow. But really, he should have had some spar wars to prep him. I've never seen a Pro fighter look so lost in certain positions in a ring, he actually looked like a rookie in those moments, no idea how to clinch or step in and smother.

No doubt Davies does some things well but he has some major flaws which will always cost him ad he steps up in levels unless there flaws are fixed. Catterall on the other hand is not excptional in any one area but is a very good all rounder without any serious weaknesses. Davies only chance is hitting him with a career best shot as no way he could beat Caterrall over 12, that's how I think he would lose this fight. Be a good fight though. If Davies team have his best interests at heart they will give him one or two fights with his new team b4 putting him in with this calibre of opponent.

 

The fact that ohd had never been in deep waters before the taylor fight coupled with the fact that psychologicaly ohd is what is known as a confidence fighter are the main factors he quit imo.
From where i was sitting ohd was actually still in the taylor fight. Sure taylor was winning and he was the better fighter in there but taylor wasnt defending every shot ohd threw and there was times especialy in the last couple of rds before ohd quit that ohd was getting close to landing a flush one which could of been the game changer. You could tell that taylor respected ohd power.
Ohd has been in a proper fight now, thatcwill stand him in good stead for the future. Im sure since that fight hes learned more about boxing than all the rest of his time put together.
Lets be right, he should never of been in with taylor in the first place. If i was ohd trainer/manager, no way would i of put him in with taylor. That was bad matchmaking and ohd career could of been developed in better ways.
After that he then gets thrown under the bus by the sims and hearn over the coyle debacle.
As i said earlier hes probably learned more since taylor than from when he started boxing, its just that hes had to learn the hard way.

 

Davies has just been calling Catterall our post fight and says that he’s next on his hit list.

I don’t think there’s much in it at all, maybe OD edges it.

I hope Frank makes it.

 

Id really love to see this fight and with ohd calling cat out, it starts putting pressure on frank to make the fight.
Cat does seem to be a fav of franks but he has 3lww inc flanagan.
Frank should let them duke it out and get the winner a shot at hooker.
Ohd would beat hooker imo

About a year ago I said on here that a good counter puncher would have great success against Davies and Eubank Jr

 

It would be catterall's best win if he beat Davies. I think it's a decent fight.

Would be a good fight- hope it gets done.
I think Frank had his eye on Flangan v Cat for the WBO but obviously Hooker messed up his plans. Would be good if frank could get him back over to face the winner.
